Butterfly sanctuary asks for restraining order to block wall construction

Source: The Hill

A Texas butterfly sanctuary that is positioned along the U.S.-Mexico border has filed a motion for a restraining order against the Trump administration to stop construction of President Trump’s long-promised border wall, The Texas Observer reported.

Attorneys representing the National Butterfly Center asked a federal judge late Monday to block the barrier, which would run through its property, and stop the government from using the refuge’s land as a pathway to build anywhere else, according to the newspaper.

The center reportedly accused the Trump administration of “defy[ing] centuries of democratic values that shield Americans from government action depriving individuals of their rightful property without notice and an opportunity to be heard” in its request.

The motion called for the judge to block the administration and its contractors from making any efforts at the sanctuary that it deemed to be “in furtherance of the construction of a border wall” and from interfering with the refuge’s “use and enjoyment of its property,” according to the Observer.

1. Every time I read about this and similarly affected areas, it makes me furious and equally depressed

I know this is a "hail mary" but maybe they will finally prevail.

8. What is really remarkable is that I keep thinking of the 23 young adults, now

that are suing the government on climate change, and the country has a right wing court system, now ,and into the future, that just doesn't care about butterflies, kids, water, air......................nothing.

2. The wanton destruction of this sanctuary

is an element of this story that I simply can't understand. The very idea of pushing forward with bulldozers for a wall that does not, and will not ever exist, is the
total encapsulation of what the MAGATS stand for... and that is fucking with liberals and destroying their sacred ideals and sanctuaries.

Anything that means something to liberals is up for smash and grab. They are the vandals of liberty.

10. I'm not saying don't contribute, but face it,

No amount of money will restore those butterflies if Spanky and his science-averse idiots win this. No other president has done so much damage to the environment as this snizzwad fucknozzle.

No matter where you live, plant milkweed - butterflies love it.
