HOWARD SCHULTZ HECKLED AT BOOK EVENT: 'DON'T HELP ELECT TRUMP, YOU EGOTISTICAL, BILLIONAIRE A**HOLE'
Source: newsweek.com
Howard Schultzs potential run for president as an independent continued to be met by swift backlash Monday night as a heckler interrupted a book event in New York City, angrily telling him not to run for the White House.
The former Starbucks CEOs announcement Sunday that he was weighing a potential bid for the White House in 2020 has been slammed by Democrats and critics of President Donald Trump. Were Schultz to run as an independent, they fear, he would take precious votes away from the Democratic nominee, helping to elect Trump to a second term.
snip:
I am seriously considering running for president as a centrist independent and I wanted to clarify the word independent which I view merely as a designation on the ballot, he said during an interview with CNBCs Andrew Ross.

However before he could finish the thought, a member of the audience had their own message.
Dont help elect trump you egotistical, billionaire a**hole, shouted the impassioned heckler.

(19,192 posts)absolutely does not need! I hope he reconsiders and runs for Congressman, or something a little lighter than President. We don't need someone siphoning Democratic votes away from our eventual nominee, although I'm sure he'd take just as many disappointed Trump voters as well.
What is it with people who think being President is an entry level position in government now? I'm totally against anyone running for President who's never held any public office before. Besides, I think Starbucks sucks. I've never been to a Starbucks and will never be caught dead in a Starbucks. Give me a Mom and Pop coffee shop that offers free-trade coffee any time. This guy probably thinks the government is merely a giant Starbucks, and can be run like a giant Starbucks. Screw that!

(2,647 posts)take any trump voters away from trump.
republicans have a way with voting for their candidate regardless of how sleazy he might be. Look at trump, for instance.
Democrats are the ones who tend to vote for a third party candidate. More's the pity.
Schultz should reconsider running..I agree with you on that.
The heckler is just exercising his right of freedom of speech. Maybe not good judgement on his part, but.................

(12,516 posts)They expected him to do like everyone else does; campaign tough and rough, but once winning, become "presidential".
Now, I don't talk politics with these folks much, so I cannot say they wouldn't still vote for him again, but these folks are the types who would possibly look fondly at a better option. Voting for Schultz would let them say they weren't voting for the "liberal"

(17,339 posts)Like all global food companies they squash the little guy, eliminate local tastes and dishes, and diminish standards by going for homogenization.
Starbucks, McDonald's, Chick-Filet, etc, have contributed to the Disney-facation of the world, just so that people who travel without curiosity can be more 'comfortable' and have a 'taste of home'. Cultural imperialism at its worst.

In any case, you seem to be making some kind of Nazi-era analogy, but it is not clear to me who or what you are comparing to Nazi Germany.

(19,192 posts)a Starbucks on every corner, sometimes across from each other? Sorry, I'm against all "big-box" and chain retailers. I buy locally whenever possible. I detest seeing Main Streets all across the country looking like deserted ghost towns. I suppose it's a matter of taste. Do what you like, and so shall I.

(11,885 posts)And people will boycott Starbucks unless he drops out. All he'll do is anger people more to vote for the Democrat nominee. rump or putin would pay someone to run third party, again.

(21,783 posts)They haven't forgotten what he did to their beloved basketball team. With a young rookie (back then) named Kevin Durant.
Folks, Schultz once owned the NBA franchise formerly known as the Seattle SuperSonics.
He sold it (some say he was hoodwinked into doing it) to a pair of Oklahoma "sooners" named Clay Bennett and Aubrey McClendon back in 2006 - and the latter fucking lied through their teeth about preserving the franchise in Seattle. They towed it to OKC in 2008 and now they're known as the Oklahoma City Thunder.
This travesty alone should disqualify him for the POTUS position.
STFU, Schultz. GTFO and go home.
