House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Rep. Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.) announced that the panel will hold hearings on President Trumps relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In a statement Saturday night and repeated on Twitter Sunday morning, Engel made reference to what he called Trumps dark dealings with Putin and his cronies.
Every time Trump meets with Putin, the country is told nothing, Engel said. America deserves the truth and the Foreign Affairs Committee will seek to get to the bottom of it.
We will be holding hearings on the mysteries swirling around Trumps bizarre relationship with Putin and his cronies, and how those dark dealings affect our national security, he added.

(128,706 posts)It'll be interesting over the next several months to see some "new" (although still senior) faces running some of these committees because we have been out of power in the House for so long... literally for 8 years (since January 2011).
For example, I had not seen or heard much about Jim McGovern (MA-2) who had been ranking member on the House Rules Committee and is now the chair. But I got to see him in action the week Congress came back into session as part of the debate to establish how they would handle the appropriations legislation. It will also be interesting to see how Frank Pallone handles the House Energy and Commerce Committee & Richard Neal who will be heading up the House Ways and Means.
We do know about some of the more vocal, now-chairs like Maxine Waters (House Financial Services), Elijah Cummings (House Oversight), Adam Schiff (House Intelligence Committee) and Jerry Nadler (House Judiciary Committee).

(11,885 posts)Its going from saying trump could have been working on putins behalf, to he WAS working for putin all along to promote a very well designed plan against us here in this country? My guess is not long, and it was a lot more planned than we could imagine.

This monster LONG AGO squandered any presumed right to fairness - at least that which tries to give him any benefit of the doubt. IMO anyway.
