Washington Gov. Jay Inslee plans New Hampshire visit

Source: Politico

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee will hold a fundraiser and a pair of public events in New Hampshire later this month, as he considers joining the crowded Democratic field running for president in 2020.

Inslee is traveling to the early primary state the week of Jan. 21, when he will headline a fundraiser to benefit the League of Conservation Voters, according to an invitation obtained by POLITICO. The fundraiser is hosted by former New Hampshire Rep. Paul Hodes and a handful of other Democrats.

The next day, Inslee will speak at a roundtable event on climate change at Saint Anselm College and will address the Dartmouth College Democrats on climate change.

Inslee has said he would make climate change the signature issue of his campaign if he decides to run for president. The New Hampshire trip is the latest signal that he is leaning in that direction. Inslee is also set to keynote an event thrown by liberal groups in Nevada, another early 2020 caucus state, later this month. And the Washington governor has stockpiled over $100,000 in a political action committee, Vision PAC, and kept a trio of top aides on hand who could assume top roles in a campaign.

He's my governor now, and I like him, and he is really strong on immigration, the environment, and trade.
