Exclusive: Robert Mueller met with Trump's pollster

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN) ó Special counsel Robert Mueller sought information directly last year from one of Donald Trump's campaign pollsters who is also a former business associate of Paul Manafort's.

Mueller's team met with pollster Tony Fabrizio in February 2018, an interview that has not been previously reported and takes on new significance after Manafort's attorneys revealed Tuesday that Mueller's team is still interested in how Manafort shared polling data with his Russian intelligence-linked colleague.
CNN journalists observed Fabrizio leaving the special counsel's office on the first of February last year and have since confirmed he was meeting with Mueller's team. At the time, the special counsel had been digging into Manafort's finances and political work ahead of his trial.

In a filing Tuesday, Manafort's attorneys tried to redact the fact that prosecutors knew Manafort shared polling data related to the 2016 presidential election with his Russian intelligence-linked associate Konstantin Kilimnik while Manafort was running Trump's presidential campaign. The information was supposed to remain secret because it's part of an ongoing investigation, but it was revealed because of a formatting error in the filing.

2. There's all sorts of polling data

Demographics, psychographics, finances, political affiliations and mostly, personal targeting information - name, address, phone, email, social media, friends, family, etc. All very weaponizable by Trumps and Russians.

5. I'm starting to lose my patience with this Mueller team.

Is this going to drag on long enough that it will be closer to the next election cycle and then the meme will be that Mueller and his team can't be seen as interfering with the election, thus nothing comes out even then?

I'm just not that optimistic. I know it's a huge project because of the nature of the crime/mob family dealings (and WTF is more moblike than a name like Tony Fabrizio?), but Mueller needs to start indicting the likes of Kushner, etc.

6. My humble opinion is that he ought to give us enough crumbs to stop Trump's autocratic power grab.

And then continue with the investigation.

If he holds off with everything, his AG and McConnell may take us over the brink.

7. I agree with that 100%!

This needs to happen ASAP. Start with Stone or Kushner or Don Jr. or Ivanka. Any one of them, but let it get close to Trump himself.

8. People, people, people

I hate to be a pessimist, but again, Mueller can only turn over the information to the Dept. of Justice.
The DOJ must prosecute. Trump and Repubs OWN the DOJ. Countless, lesser things over the past few years have been turned over to the DOJ and they just sat on them. Even if it does get prosecuted and law suits filed, they will all go to the Supreme Court. That is why by any means the Republicans had to get Gorsuch, and Kavahaugh installed......

Sorry, just saying, WASF

12. I prefer him to consider as he has

Consider he has not had anything he charged overturned or proven wrong. Consider what would happen if they rushed and failed to connect all the dots - especially if it is someone prominent and they could easily dispute even one little accusation.

9. Trump may wish he hadn't decided to shortchange Fabrizio $270K for services.

11. Thank you so much for giving me my first (and so far only) laugh of the day.

God, would I love to have been a fly on the wall while Mueller and Fabrizio had their little conversation.
