WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Antonio Delgado is taking over the portfolio on easing water contamination in Hoosick Falls, and more broadly the fight to restore regulatory teeth to President Donald Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency.

“It’s definitely a priority of mine,” he said, noting that he’d mentioned the Hoosick Falls situation to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and had met several times with Rep. Dan Kildee, D-Mich., whose district includes the city of Flint, which also suffered from devastating water contamination.

Delgado brought Kildee to Hoosick Falls for a roundtable meeting during the campaign, and made two or three solo appearances there himself. Hoosick Falls has been reeling since learning in 2014 and 2015 that its drinking water contained unacceptably high levels of PFOA, or perfluorooctanoic acid.

. . .

Under former administrator Scott Pruitt, the EPA held back a report on the same class of chemical pollutants that contaminated the water of Hoosick Falls, with one White House official calling its conclusions "a public relations nightmare."

Democrat who triumphed over racist attacks mocks critics in Congressional office: ‘Ain’t no stopping me’

During the 2018 midterm elections, Republicans smeared Rhodes Scholar candidate Antonio Delgado for not being “like us” because he had once released a rap album.

Campaign ads paid for by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) portrayed Delgado as a street thug.

Despite the smears of the Harvard Law graduate, Delgado previewed over incumbent Rep. John Faso (R-NY) in the November election.

Delgado is having the last laugh, displaying one of his rap lyrics in his Capitol Hill office, the New York Post on Monday.
“All the pain and the poverty. Hypocrisy fuels my truth. Ain’t no stopping me. #oneofus,” the framed sign reads.

1. Back in the mid-1980s I worked for a valve manufacturer in Hoosick Falls, actually North Hoosick....

...that was located right on the river. They had a filthy bronze foundry and all their chemical waste was dumped on the bank of the river. I'm sure lots of those chemicals found their way into the Walloomsac River. It was there for decades, one can only imagine how polluted and dangerous that water was.

I mentioned it a few times while there, but they just pooh poohed it.

I see now that the company has moved up to Glens Falls and a brewery has taken over the original building. You'd never catch me drinking a drop of their beer - who knows what's in the water they use.
