Comey calls on Americans to 'use every breath we have' to oust Trump in 2020
Source: CNN
New York (CNN) Former FBI Director James Comey asked American voters Sunday night to end Donald Trump's presidency with a "landslide" victory for his opponent in 2020.
"All of us should use every breath we have to make sure the lies stop on January 20, 2021," Comey told an audience at the 92nd Street Y on New York City's Upper East Side. He all but begged Democrats to set aside their ideological differences and nominate the person best suited to defeating Trump in an election.
"I understand the Democrats have important debates now over who their candidate should be," Comey told MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace, "but they have to win. They have to win."
Over the course of more than an hour, Comey repeatedly derided Trump's character, again likening the atmosphere around the President to what he saw in prosecuting mafia figures and suggested that Trump's tweets could eventually amount to witness tampering. Asked if Trump might be an unindicted co-conspirator in some of the crimes recently described by special counsel Robert Mueller, Comey said he didn't know, "but if he's not there, he's certainly close."

NEVER forget. He opened his yap right before the election for no really legitimate reason except a feigned concern that the republi-CONS would be mad at him. And it turned out to be the usual for any investigation of Hillary Clinton. A big fat NOTHINGBURGER. But it was just enough to allow the bad guys to steal the whole works via a few crumbs that tipped the Electoral College.

(27,801 posts)With his phony baloney "announcement" about deciding that her non-crime shouldn't get criminal charges. It's like he was a puppet, every time HRC got a lead with a little breathing room, there was Comey, with some stupid announcement.
When this is all said and done, I hope he apologizes to her (and us).

(11,885 posts)Are setting themselves up for an even greater bloodbath from all their corruption , lying , and crimes , and will face the wrath of the American people in 2020, and trump will either already be gone , or will not run again because of how treasonous, corrupt , and criminal he's been. The gop will have to answer again for their actions, and in-actions against a criminal in the ovel office, and their criminal acts against our country. Its all going to backfire badly on them all , and they all will have consequences , especially for the trumps. The gop in the Senate especially will have to answer for their crimes doing nothing to protect our Democracy. Its already unraveling for them , and is continuing to get worse for them now as more gets exposed on trump and them. They'll lose many more seats in the House , and a huge number in the Senate in 2020, and trump knows it, and why he is not running for re-election, he's running for campaign funds he can use for legal bills he's facing, or stealing money people are giving his campaign, not for re-election.

(15,536 posts)Look at all the damage he's done from day 1 in office. I'd say it's imperative to expose him for the felon he is, expose his entire family, keep him from raiding our treasury for lining his own pockets ASAP. Yes, there are others who need to be exposed also, but I do believe that getting rid of this orange haired blob should be our focus. Pence, if he doesn't get indicted also, would be a lame duck just because of how the American public would view him and he'd be neutered by the House for his brief time in office.
I don't know how much more of this we can take. The office of the presidency has been so tainted by this nightmare. The people need to feel good about our country again.

(11,175 posts)He seems to be deprecating the sincere ideological disagreements within the Democratic Party (e.g., on Medicare for All) and suggesting that the principal or sole criterion should be identifying the candidate with the best chance of winning the general.
The problem is that it's never clear-cut who that candidate is. As a complication, people trying to figure it out are heavily influenced by their own ideology.
In 2016, these were two very common points of view:
* Democrats who were more conservative (e.g., saying that Medicare for All would never, ever happen) were clear that, polls as of July notwithstanding, Bernie Sanders as the nominee would be a general-election disaster. A Republican campaign blasting him as a socialist would yield 400 electoral votes for Trump.
* Meanwhile, Democrats who were further left on the issues were clear that Hillary Clinton was the candidate most vulnerable to Trump's preferred style of personal attack. Decades of right-wing scandal-mongering would mean that downplaying substance and blasting her "damn emails" would be a winning GOP strategy.
We get to run the election only once, so we never find out even in hindsight who would be the strongest candidate.

(5,969 posts)and who you despise even when he says something you would normally agree with. His actions against one side and total silence in regards to the other side, all of them deliberate decisions, are major factors in creating so much lasting damage.
Also, he isn't helping. I actually had to check whether this was the Onion. His comments will only fuel the conspiracies that the FBI is a group of Democrats trying to unseat a rightfully elected President. He is rather undermining the current investigations because he likes his name to be in the news too much.
