Veterans Affairs Dept. tells Capitol Hill it won't repay underpaid GI Bill benefits recipients
Source: NBC News
For weeks, student veterans across the country have raised an alarm about delayed or incorrect GI Bill benefit payments, which the Department of Veterans Affairs has blamed on computer issues.
But on Wednesday, the department told congressional staffers that it would not reimburse those veterans who were paid less than they were owed, two committee aides told NBC News.
The news conflicts with a promise VA officials made to a House committee earlier this month that it would reimburse those veterans who received less than the full amount they were due.
According to the aides, however, the VA said it could not make retroactive payments without auditing its previous education claims, which it said would delay future claims. The aides asked not to be identified because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

Helping vets the same as the Republican tax cuts help the average person.

Lets see. He has screwed Dreamers, college students, trying to screw medicare and medicaid recipients, the economy, Veterans, the military, and on and on and on and still the GOP and 38% of the population think he's actually making America great.
Even though its cold, Canada is looking better and better.

(1,279 posts)You can move to many countries and get your VA disability and social security. Canada yes and North Korea no. The problem might be with Canada which allows just about anyone but they can stay only 6 months. After that they want able bodies. I think they will let me stay since I will be bringing $5100 US/month and the VA will reimburse my medical.

Just like he cares about the Vets alive and dead by NOT going to Belleau Wood and Arlington National Cemetery during the Veteran's/Armistice Day commemorations. The disrespect that was heard and seen all over the world.
Any Veteran, Retired or Active Duty Military that still votes Republican, my question is WHY?

That's a pretty low bar. It would take work not to improve.

I had a major construction project and let him work in exchange for his unpaid October and November rent....but most vets don't have that opportunity. He is getting ready for finals right now and is under a lot of stress, worrying about next month's rent. He has taken a job at UPS and now plans to work 3rd shift and go to school and then get another job for the remainder of December when finals are over.
This needs to be shouted out so that all Vets know that Trump and the Republicans don't care about them...they just want to use them to keep power.

(11,885 posts)Talking about how he can screw over GM more now , and while he's stiffing veterans for back pay the mistake the government made, and he says nothing. Back to stiffing people out of money again like he's done to the farmers and the GM employees, and many more.
