Trump to teleconference with military on Thanksgiving

The White House announced Wednesday night that Trump would be participating in “a Thanksgiving teleconference with members of the military” on Thursday morning. The president will be at his Florida resort in Mar-a-Lago on Thanksgiving.

Trump has yet to visit troops deployed in a war zone, a trip that has become a tradition for sitting presidents.

Trump told the Associated Press in a recent interview that he doesn’t think visiting troops in a war zone is “overly necessary.”

Trump has drawn backlash in recent weeks, including for his decision not to visit Arlington National Cemetery to commemorate Veteran's Day.

Like he phoned in his visit to Arlington National Cemetery on Veterans Day? I don't think so.

If I were those members of the military, (and I am an Army Veteran) and Trump, after having done the things he's done the past couple of weeks, decided to teleconference with members of the military on Thanksgiving from the luxury of his palace in West Palm Beach Florida; I wouldn't bother to answer the phone. If he asks about it later, we'd just all say that we never received the phone call; or tell him that he must have dialed the wrong number or had a bad connection.

After all, we were there and he wasn't. Who's going to tell him otherwise? Particularly since he has already said that the reason that he doesn't want to visit with members of the military deployed in war zones overseas is: 1) because he doesn't want to get killed going to visit them in a war zone; and 2) because he doesn't believe they should be there in the first place.

(So it's their fault that they are on their 4th deployment to some hell hole in some 3rd world country, dodging incoming bombs and artillery fire on Thanksgiving or the Christmas Holidays?)

His having them at the border for his PR stunt he should have been there with them if he had any honor for our service members, but he's too lazy to do that, but he'll travel anywhere to play golf.
