Trump Offered to Nominate Ricardel as Ambassador to Estonia, Sources Say
Source: Bloomberg
President Donald Trump offered to nominate Mira Ricardel as ambassador to Estonia after first lady Melania Trump forced the deputy national security adviser out of the White House, according to two people familiar with the matter.
Ricardel turned down the posting to the Baltic state, two of the people said. Its unclear if the White House plans to offer her any other position.
Ricardel, National Security Adviser John Boltons top deputy, departed the White House on Wednesday after clashing with Melania Trumps staff over the first ladys trip last month to Africa. Bolton hired Ricardel in April, and while he liked her, she had caused friction across the White House, where colleagues saw her as inflexible and obsessed with process.
Its been an honor to serve the president as deputy national security adviser, Ricardel said in a statement on Friday. I admire the president and first lady and have great respect for my colleagues who are dedicated to supporting the presidents policies, and I look forward to working with them in the months ahead.

(2 posts)Good riddance to this woman. She represents some of the most extreme views in the White House along with Bolton, her master.
She is first generation American, the daughter of a Croatian Nazi officer who immigrated to the US in 1954. Being raised in such a household no doubt shaped her views. And I bet she heartily supports current Croat moves to rehabilitate their sordid past from WWII, when that country was one of Hitler's most loyal and staunchest allies and committed genocide in the Balkans against its Jewish and Serb minorities.
Yet another explanation for that vile odour emanating from the White House.

(42,255 posts)Understand, there are many things in Ricardel's long government/public career that she can be derided for, and I am not supporting her. But making unfounded claims based mostly on ethnic history is not a trait associated with democrats; it is more a tactic of those who follow facism. We are better than that.

(26,162 posts)until recently rather I am simply pointing out that the Hitler Youth is a possible answer to the question you raised.

Yes, that would be one answer, but the "officer" line by the other poster is what I object to. Nor did I know anything about her until the recent turn of events and found reason to research. I also have a strong aversion to generational grudge matches (blame it on the Irish in my background!)
