Top House Democrat Heard Talking About Impeaching Trump and Kavanaugh

Source: Hill Reporter

Rep. Jerrold Nadler from New York was overheard talking about investigating and impeaching both President Donald Trump and U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Brian Kavanaugh on phone calls during a train ride from New York to Washington Wednesday.

A reporter overheard the House Judiciary Committee’s top Democrat talk about several topics that included the Democrats’ post-election strategy, investigating and impeaching Trump and Kavanaugh, and concerns about how a strong economy could cause trouble for Democrats in the future according to The Federalist.

Nadler, who will likely chair the House Judiciary Committee in 2019, was overheard talking loudly on an Acela train as he was heading to Washington DC for a two-day planning session with his staff and Judiciary Committee staff.

“We’ve got to figure out what we’re doing,” Nadler said as he discussed routes for investigating new Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh, including one involving the FBI. “They didn’t even do a half-ass job,” Nadler said, adding, “They didn’t interview 30 witnesses who said ‘Interview me! I’ve got a lot to say!’”

1. Good. Let them fear and tremble.

Whether they are going through it or not, let them think it.

2. If this is true, that was careless. They need to be careful.

You only want things to get out if you intentionally want things to get out. If this is true.

3. Honestly, Trump is probably looking forward to it.

1. He's the center of attention again.
2. It'll distract Democrats from advancing policies he and the Republicans don't like.
3. He can tell his base that he's being unfairly attacked.
4. He's secure in the knowledge that he won't be convicted by the Senate.

If it is true, then the guy needs to learn to text, not talk, in public places.

5. Glad to know they are thinking this way but they need a "cone of silence".

7. Sooooo, talk is cheap

Trump, Kavanaugh and Thomas should all be impeached...yesterday

So what if the whole world heard. Let the guilty be very concerned for their crimes. Sometimes you can even get some RepubliCONS to vote against the criminal actions of their party.

8. Whatever would we do if we learned they intend to paralyze Trump just as the GOP did to Obama?

Would a reporter rush to get a front page spot with that story?

Would anyone be running around with hair slightly on fire?

What if someone heard Nancy Pelosi say she intended to make Trump's presidency a living hell, which Mitch McTurtle said, in essence, regarding a tremendous President and human being?

10. I don't think this was an accident or carelessness on Nadler's part.

Do you know what I mean?

9. If we could overhear Trump's phone call now...

"I said, FIRE that Nadler guy!"
"Whadaya mean, I can't fire him? I just fired Sessions! I can fire anyone!"
"Shut up. YOU'RE fired."

11. Uh,

what is "The Federalist?"

The Federalist is an American conservative online magazine and podcast that covers politics, policy, culture, and religion, and publishes a newsletter. The site was co-founded by Ben Domenech and Sean Davis and launched in September 2013. Wikipedia

12. The economy might be "strong" (i.e. low unemployment) but wages are still mostly stagnant despite

promises by Republicans that the last round of tax cuts (IIRC the sixth since 1981) for the wealthy would boost pay for middle-income earners.

Dems need to hammer this point, as well as the fact that these tax cuts will have to be paid for eventually. This isn't "free" money, and the Republicans would love to cut entitlement spending to pay for big handouts to the rich. It's part of the GOP's decades-long mission to destroy Medicaid and Social Security.

13. Clickbait misleading headline.

All of the actual Nadler quotes do not argue for impeaching Trump or Kavanaugh, but rather investigating them. Sheesh.

14. NO IMPEACHING without VERY STRONG EVIDENCE. Otherwise it is STUPID PISSING INTO THE WIND.
