Senator Claire McCaskill Responds to Veritas Hidden Camera Interview

Source: ozarksfirst.com

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—A video by a team known as Project Veritas is now calling out Senator Claire McCaskill for allegedly being more liberal than her campaign implies. Veritas is led by James O’Keefe may be best known for his right-leaning hidden-camera-style investigations. You may recall two aimed at ACORN and Planned Parenthood.

Now, O’Keefe (a self-described guerilla journalist) has struck again. This time, he’s targeting Missouri democratic senator, Claire McCaskill, who is deep into a reelection fight against Attorney General Josh Hawley. Now, O’Keefe’s organization claims it has video of McCaskill saying the senator takes more liberal positions on policy issues than she’s letting the public know about. We sat down with McCaskill for an in-depth interview and got her reaction to O’Keefe’s charges.

“'I’ve been very upfront about all my positions,” McCaskill told KOLR10. “In fact, now I remember that very individual talking to me, trying to get me to say, trying to get me to tell him to say something different than what my positions are. And I said 'No, you're just going to tell the people in the doors it is what it is. I've made no secret that I think we can support the second amendment, and universal background checks, and banning bump stocks. My gun record is out in the open for everyone to see. What's really telling about this is how far they're willing to go to fraudulently embed somebody in my campaign. That's startling. I've never seen that in a U.S. Senate campaign before in the state of Missouri."

Just what impact O’Keefe videos will have on McCaskill’s reelection prospects are unclear, but it certainly remains a tight race between McCaskill and Hawley.

He is a paid Republican propagandist hack who tries to get film he can edit heavily to make Democrats look bad.

He has to work hard at his editing. In this respect, Democrats need not go to the same expense, as it is usually enough to quote Republicans verbatim to make them look bad.

They have their pals in the RNC's unofficial "Dirty Tricks" team (it didn't die with Nixon, just got a new label) who are happy to volunteer to fund any dirty business O'Keefe can dream up.

Make cuts so as to imply a somewhat different answer than she really gave.
Honesty is not O'Keefe's style.

Ultimately, our facts will beat their fraud. The right has used this sort of thing to great effect, to be sure. In the process, they are alienating more and more people. After a while, that gets costly.

This guy is the worst. Democrats need to put him on the spot by forcefully call him out for what he is. They have the truth on their side. He’s such a freaking weasel.
