Uncovered Email Reveals John Kelly Called Elizabeth Warren 'Impolite Arrogant Woman'

Source: Mediaite

In a private email exchange with his top aide, White House Chief of Staff John Kelly blasted Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) following a phone call with her to discuss the administration’s travel ban.

Nestled in a trove of thousands of old emails obtained from the Department of Homeland Security by BuzzFeed News in response to a lawsuit under the Freedom of Information Act was one particularly fiery note in which Kelly sounds irked.

In the message to Kevin Carroll dated Feb. 8, 2017, he called the chat with Sen. Warren “absolutely most insulting conversation I have ever had with anyone.”

“What an impolite arrogant woman,” Kelly continued on. “She immediately began insulting our people accusing them of not following the court order, insulting and abusive behavior towards those covered by the pause, blah blah blah.”

Kevin Carroll's reply, a day later, included this sentence:

“Too bad Senate Majority Leader McConnell couldn’t order her to be quiet again!”

28. That's what I came away with as well.

Especially considering it's General Kelly, a man who spent a lifetime in the ranks of what was essentially the ultimate men's club at the time. I suspect it's somehow been cleaned up. Even Trump earned "fucking moron" and he liked him.

What he purportedly said barely rises above what the typically understated Brits would call indignant displeasure.

14. Kelly is a disgrace to the USMC.

No one should ever call him general again.

16. To my friends who were in the Corps

I always refer to Kelly as the only ex-marine in the history of the Corps...so far none of them have argued in his defence!!!!

17. I come from a solid USMC family,

but I served in the NAVY (something my father has never gotten over), and he would agree with you. He always said that there was no such thing as an ex-Marine. But I think Kelly fits your description perfectly.

26. You are wrong on several points. Although it's unofficial and lore, any Marine knows that Lee Harvey

Oswald is well-known as the only ex-Marine.

Turning to legal status, Gen Kelley is neither a former Marine nor an ex-Marine. He remains in the Marine Corps and on the Retired List.

United States v. Dinger, 76 M.J. 552, No. 201600108 (N.M. Ct. Crim. App. Mar. 28, 2017), a three-judge panel of the Navy-Marine Corps CCA affirms that Military retirement isn’t separation from the service, it’s merely a change in duty status.

"Notwithstanding Barker [v. Kansas, 503 U.S. 594, 605 (1992)] and its implications regarding the tax status of retired pay, we are firmly convinced that those in a retired status remain “members” of the land and Naval forces who may face court-martial. As the appellant was in a retired status during the offenses and the proceedings, he was validly subject to court-martial."

4. Old, Irish, Boston.

Some ingredients that make racism and sexism more likely.

Before you alert on my post I have worked on campaigns in six states. Boston was BY FAR the most racist place I campaigned in. I am a Jewish guy from New York. But I have red hair. I look VERY Irish.

People felt comfortable opening up to me the things I heard would make your hair stand on end.

Places that are "progressive" have racism problems as well.

6. If I recall correctly, Lawence O'Donnell also referred to Kelly's Irish Boston background.

This was after Kelly's attack on Frederica Wilson.

22. Yes, he's talking about it again tonight

Boston has a reputation of being racist.

Its interesting that often these bigots are all equal opportunity bigots - thats the only place they are equal opportunity. Often Racist, sexist, homophobes, anti immigrants, anti another religion than christianity, etc, etc,

I had hoped that he might rise to the occasion. A friend told me that Kelly has always been an asshole, and was incapable of being other -- even for a brief period.
