State auditor spends 3-hour lunches in sports bar, World-Herald investigation finds

Source: Omaha World Herald

By Paul Hammel

LINCOLN — Nebraska’s top government watchdog often has spent more of his Lincoln workday at a sports bar than at his State Capitol office.

A three-month investigation by The World-Herald of State Auditor Charlie Janssen found a pattern of late-morning arrivals at his Capitol office, long lunches lasting up to three hours or more involving beer drinking, and little evidence that he was at the office in the afternoon.

In the past month, over the course of 20 working days, the newspaper observed the state auditor 10 times spending lengthy lunches at Brewsky’s, a popular sports bar about 15 blocks south of the State Capitol.

On five of those occasions, World-Herald reporters observed the auditor sharing pitchers of beer with a companion inside the tavern. Janssen and his companions were seen chatting and occasionally checking their cell phones. On most of the five occasions, at least two pitchers of beer were consumed.

Or are you saying Nebraska state jobs have the best benefit ever?

Janssen (R) faces a challenger in November in his bid for a second, four-year term. Democrat Jane Skinner, a part-time specialist at an Omaha library and political novice, has not mounted a substantial campaign. She said she lacks the funds to buy yard signs.

...aside from being a lush, I mean.

I'm a corporate internal auditor job, usually a CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) or a CPA is required.

Apparently, no!

It's odd: you wouldn't think of allowing someone to run for judge or AG/DA that hadn't passed the Bar and graduated from an accredited law school, but you'd allow the state auditor not to be a CPA or a CIA.

Anyone can be nominated. I'm surprised Traitor Trump didn't nominate his gardener or a Russian spy or Putin.

Government employees are never allowed to drink during work time. The conservatives had this established years (45) ago because too many people were having a good (alcohol) time at work. If the people in his state who now know he does not work an 8 hour shift and drinks still vote for him it is over. The ethics and morals of the conservatives is currently rock bottom because they KNOW the wrong and evil their heroes are doing. I hope the state sues the bastard for FAKING his time card to rob the state of wages not earned.......They will not attack their evil own kind........this is way he fakes his time card and drinks.
