Senate committee delays vote on Kavanaugh nomination until next week

The Senate Judiciary Committee delayed its vote on Supreme Court nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh until next week, as the deeply bitter fight over his confirmation intensified and a handful of moderate senators continued to deliberate privately over whether to support him.

The move was expected — senators routinely delay committee business for one week, which is allowed under the panel’s rules. The Judiciary Committee voted 11 to 10 on Thursday to hold the vote at 1:45 p.m. on Sept. 20, and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is expected to set full Senate votes on Kavanaugh’s confirmation for the final week of September.

The vote occurred as Democrats complained about the confirmation process and pressed for more documents from President Trump’s nominee.

“It has been rushed through to judgment in a highly partisan and failed way,” said Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.).

and every Republican knows it's the absolute truth, and moreover the citizenry does too. Republicans have torn bipartisanship asunder, and the origins go far back from Trump to GWB to Newt 1994 to Reagan to the groups that supported him that formed during the Nixon administration.

Confirming Kavanaugh may be the final act that causes Republicans to lose control of the Senate. It would be an unjust world indeed where they got both.

Each state will have to make its own rules about health care, abortion and other issues. The Red states will suffer from his rulings the most, until they go Blue. They are already suffering, but it can get worse.

Before Roe v Wade, states did decide to allow abortions or not. A woman I know had to travel to New York from Ohio because it was not legal there. She had to travel alone, because she and her boyfriend could not afford for him to go. Going backwards is disgusting.

Criminal referral was made to the FBI today from Ms. Feinstein.

It's over for Kavanaugh. Nobody's gonna confirm a moron now under investigation that is currently nominated by a moron under investigation.

Repukes - vote at your own risk - your seats will be gone anyway for even considering Kavanaugh and Gorusch.

And all those Senators that vote FOR him will face a backlash like they've never seen before , and regret what they've done to this county, and to the rule of law, and to women's rights. Many will lose their races this Nov. .
