GOP eyes another shot at ObamaCare repeal after McCain's death

Source: The Hill

BY ALEXANDER BOLTON - 08/29/18 06:00 AM EDT

Senate Republicans say they would like Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey (R) to appoint a successor to late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) who, unlike McCain, would support GOP legislation to repeal ObamaCare.

GOP lawmakers say they won’t have time to hold another vote to repeal the law in 2018 but vow to try again next year if they manage to keep their Senate and House majorities.

“If we re-engage in that discussion in some point in the future, it would be nice to have members who enable us to pass it,” Senate Republican Conference Chairman John Thune (S.D.) said when asked about the possibility of ObamaCare repeal legislation coming up for a future vote.
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) said he hopes the next senator from Arizona will be a “strong ally” who “recognizes that ObamaCare is not a proper solution.”

“It hasn’t worked, it’s created a lot of harm and damage to real people,” he added.

it's on to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security cuts.

Senior citizens need to rally around. I've been spreading the word where I live, but I really can't find anyone who will support Trump openly, so I'm hoping to get some action on supporting Democrats.

First they want to steal all the hard earned Medicare & SS $ from the working class and give it to rich who didn't pay for it, put upward caps on Medicaid so it doesn't cover nursing home care for long, then they will go after labor laws and education laws. They want to make us really ignorant by making all schools for profit and they have the right to turn away anyone to ensure the lack of education for all but the rich. Then overtime, min. wage, and all other pro-worker rules will be done away with. During this process there will be a Reichstagg Fire and a state of emergency, constitution shut down and no elections, just a PUtin proxy orange oligarch figurehead. This is what the RW has been working for since Nixon and if we don't win the mid-terms and take back at least one house of Congress, I think they may succeed.

The irony of this is that keeping their supporters ignorant is the key to their success.

No one with any intelligence at all would vote republican in the current situation.

Period.

We have GOT to maintain our current (D)s and try to at least pick up NV (Heller's seat). And if we did get NV, just one more seat would give us the majority just to halt all this bullshit in its tracks.

Voters need to be reminded that killing ACA would jeopardize health insurance cover for the 130 million Americans with pre-existing conditions. The higher cost of coverage would be unaffordable for millions. Many who are potentially impacted don't realize this. So yes, to borrow a once-whispered phrase from Joe Biden, this is one fucking big deal, in swing states and elsewhere. "Hey GOP, don't mess with my health care!".

Krugman’s editorial in the NYT “It Could Happen Here ...” yesterday. The GOP cares nothing about Democracy and will take and use every single opportunity available to them to gain and retain perpetual power. They are evil to the core.
