Brennan fires new shot at Trump: 'He's drunk on power'
Source: The Hill
Former CIA Director John Brennan lit into President Trump on Friday night, calling him drunk on power and abusing the power of his office.
I think right now, this country is in a crisis in terms of what Mr. Trump has done and is liable to do, Brennan told MSNBCs Rachel Maddow.
And so, are the Republicans on the Hill who have give him a pass going to wait for a disaster to happen before they actually find their backbones and spines, to speak up against somebody who clearly, clearly is not carrying out his responsibilities with any sense of purpose and common sense from the standpoint of national security, Brennan continued.
Brennan also told Maddow that he was considering his legal options after Trump pulled the security clearance "to prevent this type of abuse by Donald Trump in the future.

(12,531 posts)Each grab for power, each insult of allies and embrace of adversaries -- all fits into the GOP worldview, in which power is more important than process, and gaining absolute power is all that matters. Their claim of being the "party of law and order" and returning the country to the Constitution is provably false.
They hate the Constitution with a passion, because it limits them from doing all the evil they want to do. They applaud Donnie Two Scoops because he has found ways to work around those limits by using pardons, EOs, eliminating nearly every single regulation that benefits the average citizen, and now terminating security clearances as a means of controlling those who disagree with him by threatening their livelihoods and threat to his rule. He has been able to grab power in ways no other president has even thought of doing. Or would have thought of doing, for that matter. He has no love of country. The only thing he loves is himself -- and Ivanka, of course.
This is what you get when you give a sociopath the reigns of power. If the GOP holds onto the House, or Kavanaugh gets sworn in -- or worse, if both happen -- Trump will be unleashed. He knows Kavanaugh believes the president is above the law, and if the GOP wins he'll see it as a validation of his agenda, and coincidentally, of himself as a winner.
God help us if we suffer another 9-11 type attack and Hannity tells him about martial law.

(126,625 posts)That's the real scary and sad part - that they have purposely sat on their hands. But it's not necessarily because of their loyalty to Drumpf, but it's because of their EARLIER loyalty, via their participation in that infamous "pledge", to this guy -
And although he made that speech during the 2012 election, that pledge remained and they have now carried out Norquist's demand and are working through the rest of it piece by piece.
