Trump Trashes NFL Players For Anthem Protests: Most Are 'Unable to Define' What They Are Protesting

Source: Mediate

by Aidan McLaughlin | Aug 10th, 2018, 8:35 am

President Donald Trump weighed in on NFL anthem protests as a number of players knelt, raised their fists or stayed in the dressing room during the national anthem as the league’s pre-season gets underway.

Trump’s claim that players are “unable to define” what they are protesting is a solid demonstration of his complete disinterest in finding out anything about the protests.

The president could look at the Twitter feed of Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins, who wrote Thursday night: “Before we enjoy this game lets take some time to ponder that more than 60% of the prison population are people of color. The NFL is made up of 70% African Americans. What you witness on the field does not represent the reality of everyday America. We are the anomalies…”

The president finished his thought a few minutes later on Twitter, telling players “find another way to protest.”

25. Good point but that picture was a before shot.

The Korean saluted first, I suppose because that is all he knows how to show respect to a leader. But Trump salutes back.

I almost get a kick out of the Korean generals face watching Trump salute him back.

Edit: Actually all the Korean dignitaries faces, including Kim Jong-un.

3. If Trump could be Caesar attending these Games & give the thumbs down ordering the Football Players

....to be killed, I think he happily would do it and thoroughly enjoy it....

This is sickening....not just that he thinks and says what he does, but with all the things that he should be focused on as President of the United States and he chooses to focus on this....

15. Sorry for the confusion

Trump celebrates racism and violence. I think he clearly defines in voice and action that which the players oppose.

For Trump, it is always about money. He is unable to understand that other people could possibly care about anything else.

18. He Also Doesn't Understand

that how much money you make doesn't have to affect how you feel about the plight of other people. Basically, Trump can't possibly fathom why a rich guy would protest what is happening to someone else.

Trump: Mr. Football Player makes a lot of money playing a game, what's his problem with losers in jail? He's rich and living in a mansion, why should he care?

Trump, personally, has never cared about anyone else in his life, so he doesn't get why anyone else would.

11. It seems to me his real gripe is players make too much money.

He's still burnt that he's not ranking in dough by owning a team.

Players receive 40 percent of local revenues, which mainly come from tickets sales, 45 percent of sponsorship money, revenues from the post-season and NFL Ventures, such as NFL.com and the NFL Network, and 55 percent of the reovenues from media deals.Feb 23, 2016

I'll be damned, but Trump's expressed sentiment is the same indictment of this particular use of civil rights I've read twice on DU this morning.

So life is imitating the theater of the absurd.

20. A bit of info on how the NFL actually works ...

IQ45 is showing his IQ again.
The statement
"... A football game, that fans are paying soooo much money to watch and enjoy, is no place to protest. Most of that money goes to the players anyway. ..."

The NFL actually acts more like a socialist system then a free market system.
All money earned for the Media Contracts (i.e. TV, Radio, Sat, Cable, Sunday Ticket & Product Sponsors) is distributed evenly amongst all teams.
The revenue from the Media Contracts alone pay for all the players salary and all the office staff, coaching staff, stadium staff, security staff & rental of the stadium (if they don't own it).
In fact, if the NFL played in front of empty stadiums, selling ZERO (0) tickets, each team would still show a profit.

Every ticket sold at a game is split evenly among both teams playing, except for luxury box tickets. Teams get to keep 100% of the luxury box seating. Joe Robbie, the Miami Dolphins owner, was the first to figure this out.
The Orange Bowl, where the Dolphins used to play, could not be retrofitted with luxury boxes, so Joe Robbie built his own stadium. He put luxury boxes all the way around the stadium. Liked the idea so much, he had 2 levels of luxury boxes built. The first stadium built to fully take advantage of the luxury box revenue.

Ticket sales is pure profit and owners know that. That's why they hate having to play bad teams on the road because they know that stadium will not sell out, so they lose money. Right now the Chargers are playing in a 25,000 seat stadium. You think teams want to play the Chargers in LA when they're only getting about 12,500 tickets sold worth of ticket money? The Chargers only played in front of 202,687 at home for the season, averaging only 25,335 per game in attendance last year. No other team comes close. The next lowest is the Cincinnati Bengals averaging 53,275. More than double the Chargers attendance!
The Dallas Cowboys on the other hand played in front of 741,775 at home for the season, averaging 92,721. That's almost 4X more than the Chargers. And Jerryland (AT&T Stadium where the Cowboys play) is littered with luxury boxes all over the place.

So for IQ45 to say that the fans pay soooo much money and that most of that money goes to the players is pure stupidity. The owners could cut the ticket prices in half, to make it more affordable for everyone and still show a huge profit and none of it would go to the players.

Players kneeling keeps fans from going to the stadium which eats into the owners profits.
The players have nothing to lose, especially the superstars, because their salaries are covered by the media contracts.

This standing for the anthem thing...

Why does he want to get it going again?

...To take away from the investigations?
...To take away from his lack of concern over the fire?
...To take away from the immoral crew he has working for him?
...To take away from his thousands of lies?
...To take away from his Russian contacts?

Which of the above? or do you have others I have left out?

What kind of total idiot is this person?...Of all the things to talk about, let us discuss the kneeing for the anthem thing again..Of course, there is nothing better to discuss, so let's start in on this one again

Trump must not understand why they're concerned about what happens to poor people on the streets. Such things puzzle our president.
