Elon Musk has called a British diver who helped rescue schoolboys from a flooded cave in Thailand ‘pedo guy’ on Twitter.

The entrepreneur’s outburst came after diver Vern Unsworth told Mr Musk to “stick his submarine where it hurts” after describing his offer to help with a miniature submersible as a “PR stunt”.

Mr Musk travelled to the Tham Luang caverns in Chiang Rai this week and presented the six-foot submarine – which he said could help free 12 schoolboys stranded for weeks inside the cave.

But Mr Unsworth, who was instrumental in rescuing the school football team, said the vessel the SpaceX and Tesla boss invented “had absolutely no chance of working” because the inventor “had no conception of what the cave passage was like”.

The Federal Election Commission filings released this week show that Musk donated a total of $38,900 to the PAC Protect The House.

Other high-profile donors who gave to the PAC include Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, who gave $100,000, and Houston Texans owner Bob McNair, who gave $371,500.

Salon first pointed out Musk’s major donation to the group, which raised more than $8 million in the second quarter.

Musk, who is reportedly a friend of House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), has donated to a variety of candidates across the political spectrum throughout the years, including both Democrats and Republicans.

To whom Musk donates or how much. He's crossed a line here, that of common decency and he deserves every bit of derision and mocking that comes his way. How fucking dare he throw out the lazy, thoughtless accusation of 'pedo' to Vern Unsworth. Musk is not fit to lick his boots.

This is more than disappointing; it's a repulsive attack by an opportunistic billionaire on heroes who did the hard yards. I can't begin to express my total contemp for Musk's dirty trick of responding to criticism by labelling his detractor a paedophile. It's low, it's disgraceful and it's just plain fucking wrong. Rot in hell Musk, I hope Vern Unsworth makes off with a good percentage of your wealth.

Unsworth also told The Guardian on Monday he was “astonished and very angry” at the attack, the slur being an abbreviation of the term paedophile.

22. Does Not Take Well To Criticism

Elon Musk does not seem to take criticism well. This is at least the second time he has lashed out at someone in a negative way after that person has criticized either Musk, or his invention. This guy really need to learn to take constructive criticism, especially from people who may know more about a subject than he does. I guess when you have made billions of dollars from your inventions you stop listening to other people's opinions.

It really did not seem like his invention would have worked. There supposedly were places so small that the boys would not have been able to carry scuba tanks on their backs. If the boys could not have carried scuba tanks on their backs how were mini submarines going to pass through those small spaces.
