New Trump admin order for separated parents: Leave U.S. with kids or without them

Source: NBC News

WASHINGTON — Following a court order to reunite more than 2,000 migrant children who were separated from their parents in May and June, the Trump administration has instructed immigration agents to give those parents two options: leave the country with your kids — or leave the country without them, according to a copy of a government form obtained by NBC News.

The new directive does not allow parents who were separated from their children under President Trump's "zero tolerance" policy to reunite with their children while they await a decision on asylum, a protection sought by thousands of migrant families fleeing violence in Central America.

Under zero tolerance, immigration agents had been instructed to separate all children from parents caught crossing illegally. Trump reversed that decision with a June 20 executive order, but didn't provide a clear path toward reunification for more than 2,300 children who had already been separated.

Parents and children who entered the U.S. after June 20 are being kept together in detention.

incapable of empathy, unable to love even his own children...
But everyone else who works with these agencies who are actually forcing "Sophie's Choice" on these families? Are they actually such sheep that they'll just do this, that they can't protest or refuse?

I understand that the people actually taking care of the children have more of a Hobson's choice-- do they leave and refuse to participate, or do they stay and help the children out?

But the ones deporting the parents don't have the excuse that "the kids would suffer worse without good people around them". Deportation just sends the anguished parents away.

I think we Americans can never again in good conscience be appalled at the idea that "Good Germans" would carry out Hitler's murderous orders. No one at Border Patrol or HHS are actually killing anyone... but there will be deaths, we can be sure, of children neglected or left with bad people, of parents trying to get to their kids, of asylum seekers confined with criminals in prisons.

One word that comes to mind is Gestapo, a mentality I can never begin to comprehend.

I just read an article about the permanent damage done to children who are separated from their parents. As one who experienced that when I was very young, I can attest to the fact that the pain never truly goes away.

About tRump I can only say--shame and damnation upon you, you evil, evil miserable excuse for a human being.

imagine the pain of that experience...

Do you remember in October or so of ‘16, Latino children poured out of their schools and marched in the streets in California? There were terrified of tRump’s menacing language that would take their parents and friends from them...and I thought - knowing that HRC would win the election - I said, yeah, this pig won’t be elected, but the damage he has already caused is horrifying and unforgivable..

And from the day he was installed, one of my greatest fears has been of ICE and comparable militarized groups (our homegrown, privatized mercs included) - unlike the bundys and 3%ers and bikerzfortrump, these groups are ORGANIZED, well funded and - well, they love their work.

And here we are.

Let’s hang tough, class, and live to resist another day -

I do remember the reaction of Latinos to tRump's possible election, and the shroud of fear that descended when it actually happened. I am heartsick about what is going on in our nation. I share your fear of ICE and the other groups that are bent on destroying our democracy/republic bit by bit. Words kinda fail me, but yours give me the resolve to do as you advised--hang tough and live to resist another day. Hard to stay strong, but as we usta say back in the 60s, we shall overcome. Yes we will!

Blessings to you.

"Trump............didn't provide a clear path toward reunification for more than 2,300 children who had already been separated."........this sentence is it..

If you are going to reverse the decision, Trump must set up a system to reunite the children with the parents...Why? Because Trump ordered it in the first place, and Trump was responsible for taking the children away from the parents........

This achieves that goal. Because of this we can be assured that it will be challenged in court.
