Canada to allow mail-order marijuana sales
Source: The Hill
Canadians will soon be able to order marijuana through the mail as part of the nations new legalization of recreational pot.
Lawmakers in the country passed the Cannabis Act earlier this week, setting the country up to regulate the market in the coming months.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Wednesday that legalization will begin on Oct. 17. The country is the second to legalize the substance nationwide, after Uruguay.
The federal minimum age for marijuana use in Canada will be 18, but some provinces are setting their own minimum age at 19, which is the drinking age in most areas. Provinces are also creating their own regulations regarding pot shops, home-growing and taxes.
Medical marijuana, which has been legal in Canada for nearly 20 years, has been available through the mail since 2013.

(50,529 posts)They need to permit businesses where people can go to partake in cannabis. They'd be like taverns, but with marijuana instead of (or in addition to) alcohol.

(50,529 posts)If you live in a no smoking apartment, or youre a tourist, you wont be able to smoke any weed. Edibles arent the same, and vapes require equipment one may not want to buy for a weekend in Canada. Smoking rooms would solve those problems.

(5,719 posts)They have to create two websites, one for the retailers to use and one for the clients. The product will then be couriered to the buyer and age verification done before it's handed over. People will also be able to grow their own at home, up to four plants. No edibles, though...something to do with not being able to verify dosage from batch to batch.

(18,619 posts)I looked it up. There's a city named Canada in Kansas too, but it's Kansas and that'd be a buzzkill.
I'm counting on the postal workers up north being stoners. i just hope their weed is better than their cigarettes.
