Our newest fear at the border: A children's choir
Source: WaPo
Got some outrage left for our dysfunctional immigration policy?
Because a group of smiling, wiggly kids dimpled ones as young as 6 are helping blow open the real fears simmering in the White House.
These kids the Nai Kids Choir of Toronto were supposed to be on stage at the Kennedy Center as part of the grand finale of next weeks D.C. international choral festival.
They are an adorable group and have been delighting Canadian audiences chubby-cheeked 6-year-olds and joking tween boys, all in yellow polo shirts who snap to attention and sing about grief, love and the YMCA.

(58,785 posts)But if [the choir] did get permission, but were turned around from the border, those kids and the adults would have problems for many years to come, Tang said. They want neither a paper trail of rejected entry nor the sting of denial. We didnt want to subject the children to that experience. ...
So the organizers came up with an idea. They videotaped the kids singing, and their performance will be shown in the Kennedy Center while they gather in Toronto to watch through a live stream. It will be on July 1, which is also Canada Day. Theyve got Canadian celebrations to attend after the live-stream event.
Just look at those sweet faces.
Despicable.

Meanwhile the corporate media smirks at us all for daring them to do their jobs...we gave you freedom of the press for a reason....one was to protect democracy...do your fucking jobs, pressure the fascists out of the power they stole.

(58,785 posts)They might well be approved for this well publicized visit, but maybe not. The consequences of being denied are too serious to chance it.
As for your last paragraph, we know about this BECAUSE the press are doing their jobs. They started informing us back in January. Some would say we failed OUR JOB to be informed and get outraged sooner, but it's happening now.
It is also -- emphatically -- OUR JOB, not the press's, "to pressure the fascists out of power". The press provide information the electorate can access if we wish. They have no special voting power.
We're in the middle of primary and special election season right now. And November 6 our entire nation is scheduled to hold our usual peaceful-revolution-if-we-want-it. And we'd better not fail OUR JOB then.

Louis D. Brandeis Quotes. "Publicity is justly commended as a remedy for social and industrial diseases. Sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants; electric light the most efficient policeman." "The most important political office is that of the private citizen."
