Obama group announces midterms hit list

Source: Politico

Organizing for Action, the group formed out of Barack Obama’s old campaign apparatus, is moving more directly into politics than ever before, deploying in 27 House races around the country this year.

Through an existing partnership with the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, OFA will also work in nine states to campaign for ballot initiatives and Democrats running for governor and state legislature positions. The group is pushing for greater Democratic control over redistricting ahead of the 2020 Census.

OFA explicitly stayed away from campaigns in previous cycles. The group used to say that direct politics wasn’t its purpose. Instead, it focused on pressuring officials already in office.

Last year, for example, OFA was a key player in helping organize the town halls around the country that helped amp up opposition to repealing Obamacare. But OFA spokesman Jesse Lehrich said the change was necessitated by an “all hands on deck” moment.

2. I'm glad they recognize the "all hands on deck" moment.

If you want to have elections at all after 2018, this is no time for "above the fray" thinking. We are in a dire emergency and if we don't get everybody bailing, the USS Democracy is about to sink.

3. The midterms will be HUGE for the 2020 census and redistricting.

Organizing for Action has been busy for some time, thank goodness.

5. But when I put my hands on the deck, people step on them...

Seriously, though, this is good news. Especially good news is that they are planning to work with Democrats instead of against them. They at least recognize that their agenda will be better served by getting Repubs out of the way without dividing Dems.

Sounds really good.

6. I hope we win all of these races and much more.

I want to see a ton of unemployed republican house and senate members as well as governors in November.

8. I hope the President will participate, the REAL President, not the orange nut.

Come to think of it, I hope the orange nut will participate.

Every time he opens his mouth, he makes things worse for those who associate with him.

11. Yep.

Iowa 2 is safe. Iowa 1 is trending blue.

How are things looking over there in Iowa 3?

14. It still leans R.

Young has a lot of money but I think Cindy Axne has a good shot. With the proper targeted ads we can hit him hard on his broken promises. Plus he's voted with Trump policies which are hurting the Ag industry.

10. Yes indeed! "All hands on deck!" SUPPORT DEMOCRATS!!!

OFA will also work in nine states to campaign for ballot initiatives and Democrats running for governor and state legislature positions.
Bernie & Nina's "Our Revolution" group should take a moment to watch and learn.

12. I don't want them to learn anything.

I don't want them to be successful at their divisiveness. If they want to join us and be real Democrats that would be good.

21. My expectations are low. I guess I was just fantasizing out loud... you're correct...

... they'll probably always be divisive (it's what they do).

For the life of me, I will never understand why it is that the "Our Revolution" type think that there's any value in INTENTIONALLY throwing away a vote in order to "send-a-message" of purity. As far as their personal vanity is concerned, I'm sure that type of voting must be very satisfying... they can brag to their friends about how they're sending a message of "truth-to-power" and "take-that-you-dirty-corporatists".

Sadly, their discarded vote for "third party" idiots only serves to benefit the GOP. When it comes to national elections, we have a defacto TWO-PARTY system. Anyone vote that does not directly benefit the Democrat, has the net effect of benefiting the GOP... it means the Democrat needs one EXTRA vote to make up for the discarded vote... it means that the GOP needs one LESS vote to overcome the Democrat.

16. Plenty of work underway to flip those districts!

There are seven of the eight CA districts being targeted by Swing SoCal Left, for example.

The struggle continues. And we DO need all hands on deck. Some protecting us in the Senate, too. Let’s NOT forget the United States Senate.

The targets on OfA's list don't have gun sights around their pictures, unlike the GOP list that was put out before the Giffords shooting.
