Planned Parenthood’s Action Fund planning revenge on Mitt Romney

Source: The Hill

Planned Parenthood’s Action Fund plans to spend more than $3 million in Ohio and Virginia against Mitt Romney in the wake of his pledge to “get rid” of the women’s health advocacy group.

The group is one of several liberal-leaning women’s organizations planning to spend millions of dollars in crucial election states to swing undecided female voters toward President Obama.

Joining them are NARAL Pro-Choice America and EMILY’s List, two abortion-rights groups who are also planning aggressive campaigns.

(snip)
“We have purchased ad time in northern Virginia, in Columbus, Ohio, and Toledo, Ohio, because they have high concentrations of undecided voters or swing voters,” said Deirdre Schifeling, director of national organizing and electoral campaigns at Planned Parenthood Action Fund.

If Karl Rove's group runs ads throughout 2012, not just in the lead-up to the election, it's aggressive. It's the way the game is played.

Same for lobbying in general.

Yet when Planned Parenthood conducts a targeted advertising campaign, it's "revenge."

When he says it he's being firm; when she says it, she's a bitch.

It's the same old game, so ingrained that the people doing it usually don't know they're even playing.

buy millions if not billions of dollars of ad time in swing states? Or it only "revenge" when WOMEN'S groups do it?

Another thing: EMILY'S LIST is NOT an abortion-rights group. It's a group devoted to getting more pro-choice Democratic women elected to public office. A little different than an "abortion-rights" group.

That article is dripping with sexist, negative definitions of these women (and by association all women) and their objective.

Damn.

Thanks. I used the info to make a donation. I don't have gobs of money to donate to candidates and I want to donate where it would be the most effective.

In fact, any organization that represents or tends to the needs of ordinary people is routinely described with the adjective "liberal" especially in the corporate media. It's an easy tell that reveals the bias of the piece. The same as "and unions" when describing the effects of Citizens United.

Why is it that Republicans believe that Federal money goes to abortions. I saw one post yesterday that said that 98% of all abortions are federally funded. Any ideas? Any solutions?

They definitely, out there in the rank and file, believe their tax dollars are going to abortions. Even my mom.

Every citizen is entitled to their opinions but on their beliefs only. When you try to force others to believe in only one position then you are way out of line. The Supreme Court ruled in Roe vs Wade a long time back.

I support a Women's Reproductive Rights. But I also believe that the Right to Life citizens are entitles to their position. It's why this is the United States.

In the end we all really believe in the sanctity of Life.

If you think about it, every pro life argument ultimate boils down to quoting the bible of your choice. As such, would not any legislation or action against Roe v Wade be a violation of the 1st Amendment?

I hope they hammer the hell out of him and Ryan.
It's so stupid to try to abolish the org. that so many women rely on. Just more proof of the R's war on women.
