Pope Francis tells gay man 'God made you like this and loves you like this'
Source: SunUK
POPE Francis has told a gay man that God loves him during a private meeting, it has been claimed.
In a private dialogue, the Pontiff is understood to have told Juan Carlos Cruz, a victim of sexual abuse at the hands of Catholic priests, that God loves gay people and it is fine to be homosexual.
The comments are the most striking public acceptance about homosexuality ever made by a head of the Roman Catholic Church.
The remarks were made during a private meeting at the Vatican between the pair, in which the Pope offered a heartfelt apology.

Since becoming pope, Francis has definitely evolved on the issue of LGBT rights, as he was opposed to President Cristina Kirchner's legalization of same-sex marriage in his native Argentina as Archbishop Bergoglio in 2010.
The Curia no doubt expected him to remain opposed to gay rights as pope - and they no doubt hate him for not doing so.
Again, ironically enough.

(6,017 posts)He speaks vaguely and once again people attribute what they want to hear. That's also how partially how people treated Trump, too.
The Other Pope said that yes, people are born gay and that's okay. That's completely in line with some of the more liberal/science accepting positions within the Vatican. What he did not say was that it's ever okay to *be* gay. To flirt, fall in love, get married and/or have sex with someone of the same gender. That's still strictly prohibited and none of his vague words counter it.
He did the same thing with a trans man a couple years ago...and then turned around within weeks and reiterated how they are a threat to humanity equal to nuclear weapons or one of his other anti-LGBT statements. I forget which one it was but it was the same "gender ecology must be protected" that's been the Church position since the 1980's. This is his pattern: Say something nice that gets promoted by the Vatican PR dept & then within a month say the opposite speaking to a group of devout Catholics & without the general media press release.
