Nikki Haley defends Israel after Gaza violence, walks out of meeting

Nikki Haley, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, forcefully defended Israel in the violence at Gaza, potentially widening a rift between the U.S. and allies.

The U.N.'s Middle East envoy said there was no justifying the killings of more than 50 Palestinians by Israeli fire at the Gaza border, and several Security Council members called for an independent investigation, but the council had no unified message Tuesday as the U.S. said Israel had acted with "restraint." Haley placed all blame for the conflict with Hamas, after more than 50 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire at the Gaza border, following the U.S. Embassy move to Jerusalem that was celebrated Monday. Haley laid blame for Monday's violence on the Hamas extremists who rule Gaza and insisted it had nothing to do with the opening the embassy, a move that infuriated Palestinians.

"I ask my colleagues here in the Security Council, who among us would accept this type of activity on your border? No one would." Haley said. "No country in this chamber would act with more restraint than Israel has. In fact, the records of several countries here today suggest they would be much less restrained."

"Moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem was the right thing to do," Haley added later. "It reflects the will of the American people. It reflects our sovereign right to decide the location of our embassy a right that everyone in this room claims for their own country. Importantly, moving our embassy to Jerusalem also reflects the reality that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. It has served as Israel's capital since the founding of the state. It is the ancient capital of the Jewish people. There is no plausible peace agreement under which Jerusalem would no longer remain the capital of Israel. Recognizing this reality makes peace more achievable, not less."

Haley walked out of the meeting when the Palestinian envoy began speaking, a symbolic gesture. ..................................

3. "Moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem was the right thing to do," what is she talking about?

Our embassy is still in tel Aviv, all we have in Jerusalem is a glorified tourist booth for a few part time employees so Trump can pretend he accomplished something, in the meantime 60 people were massacred over this buffoonery just so Princess Ivanka can get a photo op. A location hasn't even been selected for a real embassy in Jerusalem, and probably never will be because it makes no sense from a logistical standpoint to move out of Tel Aviv, Jerusalem doesn't even have an international airport.

19. and it's about two miles down the road from our current embassy

which is just one of the reason it makes zero sense to move our massive fully functional embassy from it's perfect location in tel Aviv to Jerusalem, and why they realized this back in 1995 when it was first proposed

21. So? What does that have to do with us moving our embassy from a perfect location

among all the other embassies in Israel, to a location that makes no sense whatsoever?

7. idiot spewing the party line

Haley remarks,

"Moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem was the right thing to do," Haley added later. "It reflects the will of the American people.

American People is a codeword for "G.O.P". "Moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem" is not the will of the majority of Americans.

8. REALLY? Every single country, when deciding on where their embassy will be established in ...

a foreign country, DICTATES, based on 'the will of their people' ... exactly the location of that embassy? It's a 'sovereign right'?

Are you F***ING KIDDING ME you lying piece of shit?

"It reflects the will of the American people. It reflects our sovereign right to decide the location of our embassy a right that everyone in this room claims for their own country."

BULLSHIT.

First off, there's never been any VOTE in my entire life asking me (or any other US citizen) where we'd like the US embassies in 200+ other countries to be located. Ergo, she has NO CLUE what 'our will' consists of in this matter.

Secondly, there's no such 'sovereign right'. The country allowing you to HAVE a damn embassy is the one with the SOVEREIGN RIGHTS, it's THEIR DAMN COUNTRY. You are a GUEST. You don't put an Embassy 'wherever the hell you want' in another peoples country, you WORK WITH THEM to decide it's logical location TOGETHER.

This is one of the stupidest f***ing things I've ever heard.

10. Nikki Haley

"This is one of the stupidest f***ing things I've ever heard". When you consider the source, it's not that outrageous. Haley is the female Trump. I don't think she engages her brain before opening her mouth to talk, exactly like her boss.

And she's a "rising star" in the Republican party. Many think she has her eyes on the White House, possible as soon as 2020. Personally I think anyone associated with Trump has zero chance in 2020. The Trump taint looms large in the American psyche.

The hell it does. Speak for your damn self.

The "will of the people" voted for Hillary Clinton by 3,000,000 votes.

16. Seems like RUMP's strategy of 'I, alone, can fix it all!' is working, eh?

How is RUMP going to get these guys to the table now for negotiations now? Damage has been done and unfortunately, lives lost over this idiotic and unnecessary move, which didn't really accomplish a damn thing.
