After a respite, Cruz again questioning McConnell's strategies

Source: The HILL

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who has been more of a team player since losing the 2016 GOP presidential primary to Donald Trump, is reemerging as an agitator in the GOP conference.

Cruz is questioning Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) strategy on the GOP's 2018 agenda, which is to steer clear of partisan bills that don’t have Democratic support.

Cruz, who is up for reelection this year and faces a spirited challenger in Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D), is leading a group of restive conservatives who want to vote on a budget resolution that would set up a special process — known as reconciliation — to allow the GOP to pass ambitious legislation, such as an ObamaCare repeal, with a simple majority.

Cruz worries the time for passing lasting legislative reforms might be limited given the widespread perception that Democrats have a good chance of winning back the House next year. Those concerns are shared by many conservatives in the House, who communicate regularly with Cruz.

1. He really is an idiot

Taking medical insurance away from voters is not going to play well. Makes for great campaign material for the Dems though.

16. My stepmother in law says people voted for Cruz to get him out of Texas politics.

They might be able to ignore him now, that he's gotten as far as he's going to get.
Unless he runs for Governor or something like that. Then he can compete with all the other Evilangelicals for the frantic conservative snowflake vote.

13. Let's hope the voters in Texas are a little wiser now

It seems the Texas Dems are on a roll, maybe they're going to defeat Ted Cruz this time.
It sure would be great to see the last of him!

18. women won't be "equal" until the genders are 50/50 in ALL careers & government positions.

That hasn't happened in even the most progressive countries, many who have had several Female presidents/leaders.

USA lags very behind.

3. The fascist bigot nazi sees that a real American, a real patriot, wants his seat so he is going

to pretend to care about a whole bunch of stuff now.

How is it possible the worst human beings alive like Cruz gain so much acceptance and power? What is so terribly wrong with either us or our system or both that the most horrid people alive, Rump, Cruz, Kushners, are wealthy and powerful and decent people barely can pay their bills?

I dont like it.

19. not sure but I think I remember- cruz earned a lot of money early on investing in a Porn business.

Some people are willing to invest in most "profitable" legal, yet smarmy ventures. Wealth builders.

6. What's the term?

What is the term used to describe what a vanquished army does to lay waste to a territory they are being forced to abandon?

10. Even for a republican't, Cruz is an exceptionally gifted liar.

He comes up with some the most outstanding performances.

His supporters are way too stupid to see through him.

11. "reconciliation -- to allow the GOP to pass ambitious legislation, such as an ObamaCare repeal"

They already tried that and it failed (see McCain).

And from the OP article -

Republicans control 51 seats, but with Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) away from the Senate indefinitely while he undergoes treatment for brain cancer, they have an effective majority of 50.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), one of three Republicans who voted last year to kill the so-called skinny repeal of ObamaCare, says she doesn’t want to plunge back into the health-care debate.

“I am not enthusiastic about that at all. Not at all,” she said. “It would be one thing if somebody had the plan. What’s the proposal? Are we just going to go through an exercise with no plan? We did that and it didn’t work too well.”

They really don't have "an effective majority of 50" when it comes to this and not just due to Murkowski but due to Collins. And Paul would purportedly want a complete repeal or nothing at all.

12. He's cranky because...

He's getting his ass handed to him in his Texas race for the Senate, and now he's getting more desperate to not look like the lying idiot he is. Cruz will lose if the people keep doing what they are doing now. Registered and ready for Nov. . Cruz , the most hated person in all of Congress, even his own party people want him gone he's so bad.

14. I always wonder at these asses calling themselves "conservatives".

What the hell do they conserve but riches and power for themselves?!?

They plunder and destroy everything that is good and helpful to everyone else and they are doing everything they can not to conserve the very planet we live on.

15. Slapping the name "reform" on a bill to steal from us is not going to fly anymore.

Even the base finally figured it out when the Reputins passed their Billionaire Giveaway Act, labeled as "Tax Reform."
