Trump won't attend Barbara Bush funeral 'out of respect' for family, White House says

Source: Politico

By CRISTIANO LIMA 04/20/2018 09:58 AM EDT Updated 04/20/2018 01:25 PM EDT

President Donald Trump will not join first lady Melania Trump in attending the funeral services for Barbara Bush, the White House said in a statement, citing a desire to "avoid disruptions" stemming from the increased security presence and "out of respect for the Bush Family and friends."

"First Lady Melania Trump will attend the memorial service for Barbara Bush this Saturday on behalf of the First Family," a spokesperson confirmed Friday. "To avoid disruptions due to added security, and out of respect for the Bush Family and friends attending the service, President Trump will not attend."

Barbara Bush, mother of the 43rd president, George W. Bush, and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush as well as former first lady as wife of 41st President George H.W. Bush, passed away on Tuesday. She was 92 and had been reported by a family spokesman to be in failing health shortly before returning to her home for palliative care.

The former first lady will lay in repose in Houston on Friday in a ceremony open to the public. The Bush family and friends will then gather for a private funeral service on Saturday.

Jebbie - not so warmly.

Come to think of it, I wouldn't want him to attend my dog's funeral (if I had a dog and if he were dead, of course).

Melania is happy to just get out of the WH so she doesn't have to look at her husband's cheating face. She probably has her chief of staff calling around for other funerals she can attend rather than return to Washington or Mar-A-Lago.

she can test out some of looks she's been practicing in the mirror in public and see which one people are most apt to buy.

Can you imagine how horrible it must be to listen to him drone on and on, repeating himself ad nauseam, knowing that when you had just given birth to his son he was f*cking a porn star?

I hope she got a good pre-nup, and can afford the best possible lawyer to break it and take Donnie Two Scoops for everything he's worth, which probably isn't anywhere near what he claims.

if she wanted out, she could get out - women with fewer resources than she has have managed to get out of bad marriages.

The dollar signs still cloud her vision.

He's following the same protocol that past presidents have followed; he's not doing anything special "out of respect" for the family, which I'm quite sure don't want him there.

the Bushes aren't exactly his supporters, Barbara Bush in particular. It's a face-saving move.
"out of respect for the family" translates to 'i'm staying away because 1) i wasn't invited, and 2) because i don't want to make an ass of myself by being where i'm not wanted

He'd be expected to sit there, respectfully. Wouldn't get an opportunity to speak from the podium, so as to remind the mourners of how large his inauguration was. Not his kind of day. Probably no centerfolds to hook up with afterwards.

But I'd love to see low-energy Jeb spit in his face, if he so much as dared show up.

It will be a "huge crowd" at the funeral, but they won't be there for him. So why should he even go?
He knows he's not wanted or expected to show up.
