Ace Hardware to air ads on Laura Ingraham's show after initially saying it would pull support

Source: The Hill

Ace Hardware has resumed advertising on Laura Ingraham’s Fox News show after initially saying it would pull advertising.

A spokesperson for Ace Hardware had told The Wrap last week that it did “not have any plans to nationally advertise on Ingraham’s show in the future.”

However, a company spokeswoman backtracked on that statement in an email to The Hill Friday. The development was first reported by The Wrap.

“The information we had at the time of the initial request was incomplete and we apologize for that,” an Ace Hardware spokeswoman said in the email.

Much better selection and overall feel than the local Home Depot.

They also give ALL veterans a 10% discount, all the time (if you have registered with them, which took all of 5 minutes).

For some reason all large corporations trying to make bucks off of us average people lean towards the Koch-type assholes. Building contractors who get some/most of their supplies from the mega-chains aren't probably touchy-feely either.

I don't know where Costco fits in here but they don't do fix-m-up hardware sales.

although hunting around for some info on them, they are in the middle of a buyout to change their affiliation from co-op to being 70% owned by a private equity (Acon Investments).

I usually try to go to TrueValue.

Haven't bought anything in there in 5-6 years. I got tired of them being more interested in their fucking "rewards" card than just ringing up what I was buying so I could get out of there.

Here's my comment:

Very disappointed to learn Ace Hardware continues to support Laura Ingraham and Fox News who promote hate and bias. It's a jarring conflict with the stated values of your organization. We have a great Ace Hardware store that I have been patronizing weekly for years but I will no longer continue to do so.

Not a huge big box and with well-informed and very helpful staff.

Hate Lowe's and Home Cheapo. Too big.

I do not need "big". I understand why contractors would - but I am a simple homeowner with lower scale immediate problems that can invariably be fixed with a chat with staff without trudging through a huge parking lot and store.

Usually a political shopper. But not with this.

That's my understanding. If so, it might be more effective to politely say something to your local store, which is likely completely uninvolved in this decision.

Ace Hardware is getting a screaming fucking deal at a time of year that is crucial to their business. News Corps ad folk are shitting bricks, so they cut up their rate card. Why does a dog lick its own balls? For the same reason Rupert Murdock does. Because he can. Money is the only thing that matters to those fucking creeps at Fox News. Fair and balanced my ass.

This move has nothing to do with support for Ingraham and everything to do with money. Sure, Ace is back, but Fox can't be happy with her now broken show in what used to be a profitable time slot.

Does anyone think Bill Shine misses the good old days when O'Reilly had that job? I do.

Ace was the only nearby alternative to Home Depot and a local non-chain store noted for their promotion of the "Blue Lives Matter" movement.
