Priebus: RNC won't support Akin in Senate race
Source: cnn.com = 9 minutes ago = by CNN Political Unit
"We're not going to send any money toward that race or spend money on the ground in that particular race. We're obviously going to work very hard for a nominee in Missouri up and down the ticket, congressional seats. But I've already called off the phone banks and all of the volunteers for Congressman Akin's race there," Priebus said

(33,321 posts)They have no problem with this position inside the party - exceptions for rape are not in the platform.
Is it that they just don't want it said publically? Are there that many independent flibberdigibbets left that they need to worry?

(16,076 posts)Connecting the two would only shine a light on what the Republicans have done with their platform decision...and with Akin remaining in the race, Rmoney and Ayn Ryan are now going to be lumped with Akin and his "Legitimate Rape" comment until the election.

I thought that this post, made on another site was interesting...Guess America REALLY needs to get to know Mr. Rape:
"I'm from the district that Akin has served as a Representative, so I've known about him for a while. I'm just glad the real Akin showed up before the election so people understand exactly what they are voting for. He is also anti-education (his wife home schooled their five children) and probably a creationist. Now you understand why McCaskill was running ads to try to get Akin as her opponent!"

(61,599 posts)No difference whatsoever between what Akin said and what the Republican National Committee has established as their platform, and no difference between what Akin said and the legislature that Ryan supported. None.

(51,550 posts)PAC donors are secret so there is no risk. They'll just pick a no-name PAC and run ads for the shit-stain. Akin knows that now that he has made it clear he's going nowhere, they have no choice. It's either help him or let Claire take it in a walk.
rockingirl
(39 posts)what I think too. Money will be shuffled by donation or whatever means to new name PACs from existing others like Rove's or similar and away they go again!

(33 posts)Here's a Missouri VagHag that is fighting with her VagVamp masters.
When priebus, the head of the Vaginal Vampire organization called the rnc, speaks, you're supposed to swoon and concede all your actions and inhibitions to his every whim.
sharon barnes, a Missouri GOP Committeewoman, believes that a child produced through rape is a blessing - maybe she should spend a little time in Uganda or a state prison complex to gain a little insight from some of the vicious war and criminal rapists she seems so ready to bequeath as fathers on some poor traumatized and victimized woman.

(15,262 posts)and, if anything, they are moving to the right and becoming all the more extreme in the face of contravening public opinion. This is one of those rare opportunities when people, especially young people who have not paid much attention, become aware of their stance and extremism and their views of the Republicans also become set in stone.

(25,183 posts)in the last day, especially last night, as the deadline passed. I really figured that he'd be a good little Rethug and take the hint to drop out, but with that asshat, it's all about him. I even turned on Hannity's radio show on the way home from work to hear him justify why he was staying in, and Hannity was asking him a couple of tough questions. He's an egomaniacal asshole.
That said, how does his staying in the race affect other Congressional races? Before this, the RNC was set to dump large amounts of money into MO, and I would imagine that a lot of the Republicon super-PAC's are going to stay away, as well.
What happens to their money? I don't think it just goes back into their wallets. I fear that it will be used to support Rethugs in races that are close. Will money that would have normally ignored McCaskill find its way to her from our side because of the outrage over Akin?
Will we save McCaskill just to lose two or three other Senate races that we could have won? If it's a Republicon sweep on the level of 1980 or 1994, we may see Akin in there, anyway.
