Carl Nett, a Republican candidate for Kentucky secretary of state, tweeted Tuesday a reference to shooting Congressman John Yarmuth (D-KY), who was boasting about his F rating from the National Rifle Association. Move it over just a bit, the tweet read. I was trained center mass.
Center mass refers to how police officers are trained to aim. Nett, a former Secret Service and CIA officer, would have been trained as such.
Nett has since deleted the tweet and tweeted a new response, insisting he would have died protecting any of the liberal officials he was previously tasked to cover.
According to the Courier Journal, one of Netts old deleted tweets contradicted this sentiment. In December 2016, he tweeted that he bailed after protecting President Obama only a few times. Im not a bullet sponge for just anybody, he reportedly said.

(402 posts)I take offense at your generalizations of Kentucky. I was born there and lived there for the first 32 years of my life. I graduated from college and am a nurse practitioner. I am not dumb and I am not red. Democrat all my life, as were my parents. I am probably left of Marx. Please don't assume that everyone is dumber than a fence post if they are from an area that you consider "red". I now live in Nevada and I can tell you that the state you live in does not define whether you are smart or dumb, blue or red. Every state has it share of rednecks, even the states you consider the bluest of the blue.

I was born here and have lived twice the years in Kentucky that you state. Perhaps you got out before it turned red.
I wish you well in Nevada.

(402 posts)Actually, all those statistics bother me. My objection came from your stereotyping ALL of Kentucky. I am from Lexington, which is actually quite blue. I have family members there, that are also "blue".

(3,764 posts)Handing out leaflets advocating marijuana legalization in front of the Harris County Criminal courthouse in Houston and an assistant district attorney with the Harris County Prosecutor's office told me that he wished he could shoot people like me.
He was waiting to cross the street and I stepped up in front of him and gave him a good up and down look and he asked me what I was looking at. I said " I just wanted to get a good look at you in case I ever needed to identify you in court.". His face went white and about that time he got the crosswalk signal and he got away from me as fast as he could.
Later I saw Chuck Rosenthal who was District Attorney and told him about it and he said no one in his office should be talking like that, so I hope he let his staff know that wasn't acceptable.

(54,341 posts)They know that Democrats just aren't as homicidal, as bloodthirsty, or as deranged as they are. So, they post this stuff for their crazies, in the hope that a few of them will take the tweets seriously, and then they delete it, saying, "hey, I was just kidding, can't you take a joke? Of COURSE I never meant it to be taken seriously (wink, wink)".
Fine, Mr. Nett, so you're not a bullet sponge for just anybody. But you ARE a shit sponge for the worst of what America has to offer, and you stink accordingly.
