A majority of Americans believe special counsel Robert Mueller will conduct a fair investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, according to a new poll.
A Pew Research poll finds 61 percent of Americans are very or somewhat confident Mueller will conduct a fair investigation. The poll finds 37 percent of respondents are not too confident or are not confident at all that Mueller will conduct a fair investigation.
Forty-six percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents are very or somewhat confident Mueller will conduct a fair investigation. Three-quarters of Democrats or Democratic leaners feel the same.
The poll also finds that 55 percent of respondents are not too confident or not at all confident that the Trump administration will make a "serious effort to prevent Russia from influencing future U.S. elections."
