Charter bus carrying dozens of students plunges into Alabama ravine
Source: CBS News
LOXLEY, Ala. -- A charter bus carrying students home to Texas from a high school band trip to Disney World plunged into an Alabama ravine early Tuesday, and numerous children were being carried by helicopters to emergency rooms. According to CBS News affiliate WKRG-TV, one passenger was killed in the crash, and 12 to 20 others sustained injuries. The bus was reportedly carrying at least 52 people. "We have multiple injuries; the bus went down into a ravine," said Chris Elliott, a Baldwin County commissioner who helped out at the county emergency management center following the crash. "The fire department and officers are having to rappel down into the area to get into it." Helicopters and ambulances took the injured to three hospitals in Mobile and Pensacola, Florida, plus a free-standing emergency room in rural Baldwin County, Elliott said. <more> Read more: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/charter-bus-students-interstate-10-plunges-into-alabama-ravine/

AAA Warns Of Driving Dangers Due To Daylight Saving Time
By Tracey Leong March 11, 2018 at 7:14 pm BALTIMORE (WJZ) — As we spring ahead, experts recommend driver use extra caution while on the roads. ... A recent study shows Daylight Saving Time may cause drowsy drivers. As we turn our clocks ahead one hour, auto and health experts worry drivers will lose valuable sleep, putting them at risk for fatal accidents. ... When the alarm goes off Monday morning, AAA is worried commuters could be tired as they hit the road. “You are losing an hour of sleep, so while many of us think we are well rested, losing that extra hour does contribute to drowsy driving,” said Ragina Cooper Averella, with AAA Mid-Atlantic. A traffic safety study done by AAA revealed drowsy driving is a factor in nearly 10 percent of all car crashes. And another concern is that conditions on the roadway may look different. |

4. It looks like it plunged 30 feet mostly or entirely straight down
into a bridged ravine, looks like it impacted on one end before ending on a side. There are going to be some bad injuries.

5. Yeah, I won't share this with my family.
Our kid's leaving on his school-organized extra-curricular-activity-related trip tomorrow morning.
