Manchin echoes White House in blaming China for new Trump tariffs

Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) on Sunday blamed China for President Trump’s decision to slap tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

During an interview with CNN’s “State of the Union,” Manchin argued that while China may not be high on the list of steel exporters to the U.S., much of the steel imported into the United States comes from Asian nation.

“When you look at who produces the steel in the world, 50 percent of the steel produced in the world comes from China. The United States is the largest importer of the steel,” Manchin said. “Connect the dots. Even though they’re saying it might not come directly from China, it comes ... through other countries.”

China is low on the list of steel exporters to the United States compared to countries like Canada and Brazil, according to CNN.

In the State of West Virginia. At least he is a Democrat and adds to our number in the Senate.

Cross your fingers he wins re-election because chances are he will loose to the Republican. He has to whether he wants to or not be a conservative Democrat or he would certainly loose. We do not need another Republican in the Senate.

He does not have that option! His state and his district went overwhelmingly for Trump! Matter of fact you can not get any more red than West Virginia is now.

As of now they have ignored he is a Democrat but really pissed them off a lot when he and Toomey sponsored their bipartisan gun control bill after Sandy Hook.

Manchin is on a single thread at the moment and has to be seen speaking up for what his constituents want if not? Then get use to one more Republican in the Senate.

Also this time around unless Manchin is going to retire do not look to him to support any gun control bills unless it is just strengthening the current background check system.

We as Democrats can not attack the legislators of our party in Red Districts!! We can not worry about how they vote many times or what they say because they are numbers to help us flip control. If they do not behave as they do then they are toast and we loose more seats.

I am going out on a limb here by stating I would like to see Manchin run for POTUS!! He would get our votes even if we had to hold our nose but he would play well in Red States and Districts. I think he would have long coattails for the Democratic party!!

I am union Democrat as is my entire family!! Half of my union yellow dog Democratic family voted Trump!!

I voted Hillary and the other half also voted Hillary or stayed home in disgust!

If the election were held today I would still vote Hillary and the ones who did and did not would vote for Trump!!

They are true union Democrats! They do not care about abortion, gay rights, social issues, guns to a point but all revolves around bread and butter family issues!

Are the bills paid? Can we put food on the table? Can we take a family vacatiin? Do we have the money for our children forvacation?

If when 2020 comes around if they can answer yes to all of those questions then it does not matter how much they hate Trump they will fall all over themselves to vote for him!! That is why I say Joe Manchin could break into that where other Democrats can not!

Hopefully Phil Bredesen can change that. He got a lot of Republican votes when he won the Governership because of his business acumen. He was hugely successful in the healthcare industry. He was an outstanding governor- he laid the groundwork that has made Nashville a booming city.
