Trump warns of military action with North Korea if sanctions don't work

Source: The Hill

BY JONATHAN EASLEY - 02/23/18 02:48 PM EST

President Trump signaled on Friday that military action could be in the works if new sanctions against North Korea don’t curb the country’s nuclear ambitions. The White House on Friday announced aggressive new sanctions against North Korea aimed at crippling their ability to trade.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull at the White House, Trump said that if the sanctions don’t work “we’ll have to go to phase two,” which he said “may be a very rough thing.”

“We'll have to see,” Trump said. “I don't think I'm going to exactly play that card. But we'll have to see. If the sanctions don't work we'll have to go to phase two. Phase two may be a very rough thing. May be very, very unfortunate for the world.”

“But hopefully the sanctions will work,” Trump added. “We have tremendous support all around the world for what they're doing. It really is a rogue nation. If they can make a deal it will be a great thing. If we can't, something will have to happen. So we'll see.”

"May be very, very unfortunate for the world."

History could describe him as the worst monster ever -- if there are any historians left to write it.

Getting sick and tired of your bullshit. Time for you to become a footnote in history as a crappy president and a washed up wanna be billionaire.

What the fuck kind of Lex Luthor shit is this? Put him in a straight jacket and haul his ass out. He would literally destroy the planet to save himself.

Like including them in the ceremonies, having an all Korea hockey team. The last thing Trump wants is for some new wave of reconciliation or thawing of relations between the north and the south, spurned on by the Olympics. Some new third way developing out of his hands. This new SK President is more of a dove than the one he replaced due to corruption. I think a war with NK is in Trumps back pocket. I'm sure he has Kelly on stand-by if Mueller starts getting too close.

It would be a disaster for Trump's plan B (start a war) if out of these Olympics, new talks developed between the north and the south.

But I guess there's always Iran

I think we have been very fortunate to not have more "asymmetric warfare" blow-back than we have had. Sure we will virtually wipe out NK if it ever gets to it, but we may pay one of these times. What would Saddam or Qaddafi have to loose striking back at us. Could it have gone any worse for them?

There are tens of thousands of trawlers, and even private yachts that could hold something the size of a sedan even if NK does not have a working ICBM. How many people would die if a small nuke were detonated in a harbor?

NK has hundreds of thousands of troops. Think of what the DC snipers did to paralyze the area for weeks with only one fire team and a single AR-15 rifle. What if NK could sneak in a hundred sniper teams. We are a pretty open society.

This will not end well.
