'Charles in Charge' Star Alexander Polinsky Accuses Scott Baio of Child Abuse

Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Alexander Polinsky is alleging child abuse and sexual harassment at the hands of Charles in Charge star Scott Baio, the second of Baio's co-stars on the hit '80s sitcom to make such claims.

"I was sexually harassed by Scott Baio and ultimately assaulted by him between the ages of 12 to 15 years old," said Polinsky, who spoke about his allegations against Baio for the first time on Wednesday during a press conference with Hollywood attorney Lisa Bloom. The pair were joined by Nicole Eggert, Polinsky's Charles in Charge co-star, who has accused Baio of sexually abusing her as a minor and who was now on hand to support Polinsky's claims.

Polinsky traced the alleged abuse from Baio back to the child actor's first year working on the show when, at age 11, he walked in on Baio acting "sexual in nature" with 14-year-old Eggert, who was sitting on the adult star's lap.

"I was so naive, I innocently hopped on his lap expecting to hear a story about Fonzie or Happy Days," said Polinsky of the TV show's megastar. "Scott Baio was a hero to me. Instead of telling us a story, Scott immediately threw me off him and began angrily calling me 'faggot' while Nicole laughed."

3. Gawd, the Trumpsters (Scott Baio defenders) are really going after these two...

I hope they have strong support systems. I applaud their courage.

4. Well, Baio being a predator is certainly in keeping with the Republican m.o.

6. OMG, I loved Charles in Charge when I was little, I

thought the Nicole Eggert accusations where shocking.
I wonder if the middle sister from the show is, also going to come forward?
Truly sickening and 100000% deplorable.

7. Actually, he could have just charged him for being Scot Baio

That would be shame enough for the average person.

9. How many are there?

But don't worry, a mass shooting will conveniently happen to knock the perverted Republican off the front page.

12. Just when you think he couldn't get worse

My kids used to watch Charles in Charge, though it was not the kind of show I cared for. Hard to believe he was such a nasty person even back then.

This sort of thing seems to be epidemic among conservatives.

15. My kids watched it, too.

I thought it was a harmless, fun show for them. I was careful about what they watched.

17. Yes, it sure seemed like an innocent show

Forgettable, but as you say "harmless" family fare. Imagining what was going on behind the scenes, it is horrifying.

18. Paul Peterson heads a group

called A Minor Consideration. He was the child actor who played the son on the Donna Reed Show. He gets help from Jay North, who played Dennis the Menace on TV. Peterson started that group to help former child actors after Rusty Hamer from the Danny Thomas Show committed suicide. Many child actors went through hell.

19. Yes

And it goes back to the pre-television era as well. So many of those adorable little children in the movies during the 1920s and 1930s were often victims of abuse and greed. On the surface, it looked like such an ideal life.

20. Happened To Robert Blake

In his Li'l Rascal days. There was, iirc, a law passed that tagged his name on because of the business abuses he endured from his management and parents.

21. So many of those children

ended up penniless and not really equipped to make it in the real world.
