President Obama: Republican approach to education funding is backward

Source: Reuters

President Barack Obama accused Republicans on Saturday of a backward approach to education funding that would mean further teacher layoffs, in a veiled swipe at Republican vice presidential hopeful Paul Ryan, who has led a drive for domestic-spending cuts.

(snip)
Though Obama did not mention Ryan by name, the Wisconsin congressman - a fiscal hawk picked last week by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney to be his running mate - authored the Republicans' budget blueprint that passed the House of Representatives last March with no Democratic support.

(snip)
"The economic plan that almost every Republican in Congress voted for would make the situation even worse. It would actually cut funding for education," he said. "All to pay for a massive new tax cut for millionaires and billionaires."

"That's backwards. That's wrong," he said.

The Democratic approach has been comprehensive. Obama, on his first day in office, ended both illegal, immoral wars and used the excess funds to actually fund NCLB. He hired people to head education on a federal level who were NOT trying to destroy public education as we know it.

Pissing on America and telling us it's raining, you know trickle down economics, trickle down jobs bill, trickle down education, trickle down health care, and trickle down civil rights. The just say NO party, thanks Nancy.

Like I have been saying. There is nothing positive about the GOP Agenda.

Their ideas are totally regressive and will alienate our society. We need a progressive society not a regressive one that the GOP is pushing.

The central position of the GOP from day one is to take the White House from President Obama and try to disengage us instead of positive engagement.

Stop the charade about Social Security and Medicare and Health Care should be for all Americans .

Many States around the world have health care for all their citizens.

PS Voter Suppression is not American.
