U.N. council mulls call for U.S. Jerusalem decision to be withdrawn

Source: Reuters

DECEMBER 16, 2017 / 2:06 PM / UPDATED AN HOUR AGO

Michelle Nichols

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - The United Nations Security Council is considering a draft resolution that would insist any decisions on the status of Jerusalem have no legal effect and must be rescinded after U.S. President Donald Trump recognized the city as Israel’s capital.

The one-page Egyptian-drafted text, which was circulated to the 15-member council on Saturday and seen by Reuters, does not specifically mention the United States or Trump. Diplomats say it has broad support but will likely be vetoed by Washington.

The council could vote early next week, diplomats said. A resolution needs nine votes in favor and no vetoes by the United States, France, Britain, Russia or China to pass.

Trump abruptly reversed decades of U.S. policy this month when he recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, generating outrage from Palestinians. Trump also plans to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv.

Western governments have been pandering to the Arab street for far too long, this recognition helps to bring back American foreign policy to the actual reality, namely that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.

Moreover, the UN has zero credibility when it comes to Israel, and neither does Egypt.

it long ago. When God says when, all the Jews of the world will go there to fight Satan's Muslim forces in Armageddon (may require forcing in some cases, I know my husband's not interested, but forcing according to God's will there will be). And, of course, in that great final battle the Jews and Muslims wipe each other out, leaving you-know-who to inherit, so what's not to wait for?

Although Pew does some are getting rather impatient for the holocaust to literally end all holocausts.

And it was liberated by the Israelis after the Arabs lost their genocidal war against the Jews.

Jerusalem has been the capital of the Jewish people for more that three thousand years, long before the Arabs conquered the land through violence.

Jewish rights to Israel, Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem are codified in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

The Jewish people have a right to live in their ancestral homelands, just like native americans do in the US. Judaism is not just a religion, its a tribe.

Funny how a lot of progressives don't seem to understand that.

with the borders to be decided. THAT would be consistent with both US policy pre Trump and the UN. By the way, as there are hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who were born in Jersulem, which Israel considers Israel, who have been denied Israeli passports, you could argue that Israel for decades has not treated Jersalem as it does pre 1967 Israel.

Maybe the best solution is a one state solution with equal rights for everyone.
