GOP congressman to Trump: Mueller probe 'infected with bias'

Source: Politico

By KYLE CHENEY 12/12/2017 03:57 PM EST

A Florida congressman who has said that the country is at risk of a “coup d’etat” by Special Counsel Robert Mueller says he warned President Donald Trump personally last week that Mueller’s Russia investigation is “infected with bias” against the president.

Rep. Matt Gaetz, a freshman Republican, said he issued the warning during a flight on Air Force One with Trump ahead of a Friday evening rally in Pensacola.

In a phone interview, Gaetz said he stopped short of encouraging Trump to fire Mueller, though he has recommended that step repeatedly in public statements. But he said he told Trump about his issues with the probe.

“I did say that I was concerned that this investigation was infected with bias,” he said he told the president. “He said, ‘That’s why you guys have got to do your job.’”

Trump should be thrilled to hear that bias exists.

despite not knowing its definition.

Someone should fill him in on synonyms, too, teach him "putsch." He'll like that one, as it seems similar to the word so many of the kids in his neighborhood used to call him growing up, "putz."

I mean, it's pretty obvious even to the GOP, right?

It wouldn't have been that hard to ask people questions about themselves and their spouses to see if they could be painted as partisan, either way.

Political malpractice to not have done so. It's not like there are not 10,000 good lawyers at the DOJ and good investigators. Find ones not linked to either campaign or Fusion GPS. Not that hard.

In that kind of position, you have to avoid the APPEARANCE of IMPROPRIETY.

Appearance is almost as bad as the real thing in this situation.

I don't think any of the people are compromised, at all, but way to give Trump ammo, Mueller.

I can't believe he was this dumb.

In fact, I wonder if he did this TO GET THE INVESTIGATION TO APPEAR COMPROMISED IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Trump has said they can't be fair. No blacks, because Trump retweets racist BS. No Catholics, because Trump has insulted the Pope. No Democrats, because they are all biased. No immigrants, no New Yorkers, no Arabs, no Muslims, no one who worked in a Democratic Administration, no one who has ever voted Democratic, no LGBTQ, no FBI (cause Trump has insulted them), no one who is not a billionaire.

That should narrow it down a bit for Mueller. It should be obvious to him that only filthy rich white European alt-right men could possibly carry on an investigation that passes the Republican "smell test".

And why should anybody care what the latest weak minded Trump sycophant thinks?

I heard he'll say ANYTHING for a ride on Air Force One.

Sit down junior and shut up until you learn two things:
1. How national politics works
2. You represent 51% of 800 thousand people and 180 million Americans don't care what rookies think!
