Sen. Cory Booker (D., N.J.) wants President Donald Trump to resign like Sen. Al Franken (D., Minn.) did over allegations of sexual harassment.
Booker asked why Trump doesn't "do the honorable thing" while he was in Alabama on Saturday and made the comment to a reporter from Vice News, the Washington Examiner reports.
"I just watched Al Franken do the honorable thing and resign. My question is, why isn't Donald Trump doing the same thing?" Booker said on Saturday. "Who has more serious allegations against him, with more women who have come forward."
Many Democrats have been critical of Trump for calling out Franken for allegations of sexual harassment when they claim he admitted to doing so himself in the "Access Hollywood" tape. Trump has denied any allegations against him.

(11,843 posts)Franken announced that he will be resigning in the coming weeks, not that he had resigned. It's like the Sixth Sense and everyone sees only what they want to see. Franken probably will resign, but he hasn't done it yet.

(17,784 posts)It was different time when there was so much outrage over consensual affairs between adults such as the impeach of Bill Clinton over lying about Monica Lewinsky, which also lead to the resignation by Republican Bob Livingston due to disclosure of his own affair.

WASHINGTON On the eve of the House debate to impeach President Clinton for lying about sex with Monica Lewinsky, House Speaker-elect Bob Livingston told his Republican colleagues Thursday night that he had strayed from his marriage and had adulterous affairs.
Only a few hours after Livingston decided to proceed with the impeachment debate despite U.S. forces being engaged in hostilities in Iraq, he admitted in a GOP caucus that he had "on occasion" committed infidelity and in "doing so nearly cost me my marriage and family."
The speaker-elect's announcement added a startling twist to a political scandal in which Clinton is likely to be impeached by the House for allegedly lying under oath about his affair with Lewinsky and then covering it up.
In the closed caucus, Livingston, of Louisiana, read a letter to colleagues about the matter, departing from it only once when he said at the beginning, "I guess I have been Larry Flynted."

(18,124 posts)you know, I know that POS called your potus is not honorable and you calling for the political execution of one of our most anti-trump Senators, along with the rest of the anti-franken lynch mob, WITHOUT DUE PROCESS, makes me wonder even more about where we will go from here.

(17,784 posts)...too many times we give Republicans a free pass because we expect them to act like jerks and instead focus on the shortcomings of Democrats. We should hold both to the same standard.
