Minnesota's largest newspaper calls on Franken to resign

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by hunter (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

The Minneapolis Star Tribune, Minnesotaís largest newspaper, called on Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) to resign following allegations of sexual misconduct and growing calls from his colleagues to step aside.

"The incidents of alleged sexual misconduct have become too damaging for him to continue. Franken has said he will make an announcement on Thursday: It should be that he is resigning," the newspaper wrote in an editorial on Wednesday.

The editorial came not long after Frankenís office said the senator would be making an announcement on Thursday. The notice did not provide further details.

Roughly two dozen Democratic senators called on Franken to step aside by Wednesday afternoon, including No. 2 Democrat Dick Durbin (Ill.) and Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.) and Kamala Harris (Calif.).

2. Agreed, agreed

And how long before DU decides we all have to step in line and lynch mob mentality etc? "For the good of the party" blah blah. No, this is not acceptable. At least I am glad to see so many others here have not lost the ability for critical thinking and common fuckin' sense!!! (For now until we are admonished into silent obedience, I am afraid, LOL)

Really just unforgivable, this is fascism at work.

23. I'll never step in line with cowardly fear of our opponents' opinions and hit job machinations.

I'm a lifelong Democrat, yet I will never be like these women of the Democratic Party.

They're too nice.

They care more for the appearance of morality than the higher morality of doing the greatest good for the greatest number.

I want to WIN first, sort the "appearance" and "allegation" issues later.

5. Awhile back I said it was only a matter of time before "anything" became offensive.

We're fast arriving at that point.
The worst of frankens "offenses" was the first one, and the woman involved in that one said resignation talk was ridiculous. She also accepted his apology.
A squeeze around the waist is hardly what Weinstein did

6. The Republican party are so happy to have a target to throw stones at, in their mind

Judge Roy Moore is no more guilty than Al Franken and it falls in line with their idea that both parties do it, Fox News Brain washing at its best.

7. Maybe they can post this pic of more "abuse" at the hands of Franken

Franken **GASP** put his hand around her waist and squeezed according to her. She was soooooo outraged she put HER arm around him and HER hand on his shoulder for the picture.

Now she's claiming his was "groping" her. Sorry,I say BULLSHIT..............

10. So what should keep someone from accusing the owner of the Tribune of such acts? Or congress?

Seriously, the bar is so fucking low on this that this is like handing candy to a baby but instead it's handing democrats heads on plates over to the Republicans.

15. Guess who they endorsed for Senator?

After unseating incumbent Republican Norm Coleman in a bitter 2008 Senate campaign, satirist-turned-politician Al Franken headed to Washington promising a serious approach to his new career.

We were among the skeptics, in no small part because Franken had zero legislative experience. In fact, this page had endorsed Coleman over Franken and Independence Party candidate Dean Barkley, arguing that in a second term the pragmatic Republican would continue to be a voice of moderation in the party and an effective representative for this politically divided state.

They DID endorse Hillary, but so did EVERY city newspaper in the country!
