Coal CEO: Senate tax plan wipes us out

Source: MSN/The Hill

Coal CEO Robert Murray warns that if the Senate version of tax reform is enacted by President Trump he'll be destroying thousands of coal mining jobs in the process.

"We won't have enough cash flow to exist. It wipes us out," Murray told CNNMoney in an interview on Tuesday.

Murray, a fierce supporter of Trump's efforts to revive coal, condemned the Senate bill as a "mockery" that would inflict a devastating tax hike on beleaguered coal mining firms as well as other capital-intensive companies.

"This wipes out everything that President Trump has done for coal," said Murray, the CEO of Murray Energy, one of America's largest coal companies.

So, is this payback toward Manchin, or Trump's usual willingness to throw his supporters under the bus?

3. Cqnnon fodder for him.

He doesn't give a shit about any working person, only the oligarchs. He has done exactly zero good for us and everything bad that he could. Removing OT pay, removing tips fpr wait staff, killing healthcare, putting SS, Medicare and Medicaid on the cutting table, killing all corporate and environmental regulations possible, but their eyes are closed. He's a total hater and destroyer and laughs at these folks who are too stupid to realize they are bleeding and refuse to see the knife in his hand and continues lying to them the whole time.

8. 9 dead in ..."a 2007 coal mine disaster that occurred at one of Murray's mines in Utah ..."

Murray's mine is "a 2007 coal mine disaster that occurred at one of Murray's mines in Utah that resulted in the deaths of nine mine workers. The New York Times wrote an editorial in April that said Murray "falsely insisted" that the disaster was caused by an earthquake and not safety violations outlined in a 2012 settlement agreement.

The settlement that Murray signed showed four safety violation that the Labor Department said contributed to the collapse of the mine. "

So, good. I hope it does put this sack of dung out of business.

6. Even if true the base would still vote for him.

They'll say it is fake news that they will be laid off, even when they are standing in line collecting their unemployment checks and Fux Ruse is on in the background.

13. Best guess is there was a write off that allowed them to pay even less that 20%

that was done away with in the proposed tax hike for the middle class.

19. I thought tax breaks and subsidies only applied to renewable energy

Coal can't stand on it's own? That is not what I hear from right-wingers.
