Ohio governor candidate apologizes for boasting of sexual history with 50 very attractive females

An Ohio Supreme Court justice who recently declared his intention to run for governor faced widespread condemnation — and even some calls to resign — after he boasted about his sexual history while defending “heterosexual males.”

Justice William O’Neill posted a statement Friday morning on Facebook about what he described as the “national feeding frenzy about sexual indiscretions,” and in doing so disclosed details about his sexual history.

“As a candidate for Governor let me save my opponents some research time,” O’Neill wrote. “In the last fifty years I was sexually intimate with approximately 50 very attractive females. It ranged from a gorgeous blonde who was my first true love and we made passionate love in the hayloft of her parents barn and ended with a drop dead gorgeous red head from Cleveland.

“Now can we get back to discussing legalizing marijuana and opening the state hospital network to combat the opioid crisis.”

The ambiguous phrasing of the fourth sentence can be read to suggest that Bill O'Neill's sexual conquests include both "a gorgeous personal secretary" and "Senator Bob Taft (Senior)," to whom he made passionate love in a barn. Attaboy, Bill! (Incidentally, I think he means Bob Taft Jr., because Bob Taft Sr. died in 1953 and Bill O'Neill was born in 1947.)

Not only 'can' it be read that way, it should be read in that way. If you say "ranged from", there has to be a "to" for the other end of the range, and the only one is Senator Bob Taft (Senior), who was dead by the time O'Neill was 6. The ambiguity is whether the barn was owned by the parents of the secretary, or Bob Taft (Senior)'s parents (which means Bob was actually a 'she').

It seems O'Neill just isn't a very good writer, even when trying to construct 'funny' press releases.

the justice has some serious self esteem issues and a rather mediocre imagination. And who says hetero males need defending? We've run virtually everything for freaking millennia and still do.
