Kushner told Time Warner exec CNN should fire a fifth of its staff: report

Kushner told Time Warner executive Gary Ginsberg that CNN should fire the employees because they were so wrong in their analysis of how the election would turn out, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.
A White House official said Kushner didn't intend for the comment to be taken seriously and was only trying to make a point, according to the Journal, which reported that the remark "wasn't taken lightly" inside Time Warner.
The newspaper had previously reported in February, shortly after Trump took office, that Kushner had met with Ginsberg at the White House and criticized CNN over what he deemed inaccurate analysis of the Trump administration and commentators who had been especially critical of Trump.
CNN and its parent company Time Warner were in the spotlight this week over reports that the Trump administration wanted CNN sold as a condition of a merger between AT&T and Time Warner.

(23,065 posts)They were all part of it, including Jared, Don Jr, Eric, Ivanka, McConnell, Ryan and probably most of the repug party. That's why I despair at times of getting this fixed and taking out the traitors. Nothing really worthwhile is easy, so I cheer when some trickle of truth comes out and yell at the complicit traitorous repugs in congress. Our voting systems have got to be thoroughly revised to produce an auditable trail and must be inspected by bi-partisan tech groups (not including the mfg.) before and after every election.
we also have to go to popular vote wins the election, but without repugs tilting the field by hacking the machines, this wouldn't be such a big problem.

We have an infotainment media that normalized a corrupt would be autocrat.
And the autocrat wants more - he wants state media.
We should be demanding the opposite - return to the fairness doctrine, and journalism that speaks the truth, calls a lie a lie, and doesnt just repeat what people say.

(11,514 posts)For instance, giving air time to the opposing view on climate change is just moving us further away from the truth. This is exactly the problem we have, the right makes up lies so fast and those lies get spread so efficiently by our media, that it becomes impossible to refute the lies in any meaningful quantity.

(6,916 posts)With climate change, media should be reporting how oil and gas companies spend money to discredit climate change. Why? So oil and gas CEOs can make more money.
Why is Scott Pruitt at EPA? Because oil and gas companies donate to Republicans, and to GOP think tanks. So Pruitt has been paid to make oil and gas companies more money.
The right wing press has hoodwinked the left into talking about science on climate change. Its not about science. Its about money. If CNN talked about the money behind climate change denial in other words if CNN talked about the truth America would be taking action right now.

Firing a big chunk of CNN staffers would help accomplish that goal. Has nothing to do with how CNN covered the campaign last year
