Romney set to choose 'ideas man'

Source: BBC News

The US TV networks are reporting that 42-year-old Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan will be Mitt Romney's choice as vice-president.

If they are right, it is a bold and ideological choice for a candidate who has been fairly cautious.

The Romney campaign are haunted by John McCain's choice in 2008 of Sarah Palin. She certainly enlivened an already very lively campaign, but did much to put off the middle ground.

If it is Ryan, he will perhaps be seen by some as another "boring white man" but in political terms he's pretty exciting. He's best known for producing a controversial conservative budget plan, which among other things, puts medical help for the poorest in the hands of the individual states.

The Democrats will be prepared to attack, and some seem to be salivating at the opportunity. When it was published President Obama dismissed Ryan's budget plan: "I believe it paints a vision of our future that's deeply pessimistic. There's nothing serious about a plan that claims to reduce the deficit by spending a trillion dollars on tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires."

oh he's going to have to make sure that 'When Mitt Romney Came To Town' video gets out to all his buddies now, so they know he should've been a contender

It's a little late for that now. So Paul "Eddie Munster" Ryan guarantees Florida for President Obama. That won't be the only gift he gives the President this year.

Ryan's never run with the big dogs. He's about to learn some hard lessons.

to keep the mouth-breathers quiet and docile enough to come to the polls in Nov.

And yeah, this definitely puts Florida in the "leans Democratic" column! Bring it!

All the people who said they would never vote for Romney are now saying "I won't vote for Romney, but I'll vote for Ryan".

The "liberal" media will join the Rs in a several week long circle jerk over him, but end of the day he is a lightweight who simply looks good with this flip haircut repeating the same tired "cut taxes and spending' BS.

He could have done worse, he won't be Palin bad.

But, he is an intellectual lightweight who is a republican creation and thereby an elite media wunderkind.

He's dangerous because, unlike Sarah Palin, he is smart and articulate.
