Trumps set to launch two real estate projects in India, despite conflict-of-interest concerns

By Annie Gowen October 28 at 8:00 AM

President Trumps eldest son, Donald Jr., is expected to launch two residential projects in India for the Trump Organization in the coming weeks, continuing the familys promotion of the Trump empire despite concerns over the presidents potential conflicts of interest with foreign governments.

The Trump Organization vowed early on there would be no new foreign deals during Trumps tenure as president; these two latest projects in India were inked before his election. ... But the high-profile launches demonstrate that the pledge comes with an asterisk agreements made years ago can move forward or be revitalized, such as the Trumps 2007 deal to build a luxury beachfront resort in the Dominican Republic that may be revived, according to an Associated Press report.

The president did not divest his assets after he was elected and instead placed his business empire into a trust controlled by sons Don Jr. and Eric, who has traveled to Uruguay and accompanied Don Jr. to introduce a Trump-branded luxury golf course in Dubai and a hotel in Vancouver.
....

Critics on Capitol Hill and elsewhere have also questioned the fact that taxpayer-funded Secret Service agents accompany the Trump sons on these private business excursions, racking up thousands in hotel bills and straining the agencys budget. Don Jr. recently eschewed security on a private moose-hunting trip to the Yukon, the New York Times reported, after asking to be removed from Secret Service protection. Its unclear whether he has rejected a Secret Service detail altogether and whether he will have one on his trip to India in the coming weeks. But people close to him say they have suggested that he keep the detail for his own safety and for that of his family.
....

Kalpana Pradhan in Kolkata and Carol Leonnig in Washington contributed to this report.

1. Well, hell, do you see any Repukes trying to stop them from doing anything?

This grifting family will continue business as usual. There's no reason to change anything.

DUMPSTER BUSINESS PLAN:

1. Make shady real estate deals with foreign nationals
2. Blow smoke up their asses about how valuable, impressive and just plain YUGE the Dump name is
3. Don't complete the project -- fuck over the investors and contractors, telling them to sue you if they don't like it
4. Rinse and repeat

2. Sure they can hop off to India whenever they want

and have meet-ups with Putin while nobody is watching.

Isn't this the obvious next step?

4. It's still going to take a while

They're probably going to arrest Manafort or Cohen on Monday. (Or maybe both.)
One of those guys will be offered a deal they can't refuse. Whoever takes the deal will stay out of jail once he tells everything he knows about everything.

My guess is Manafort will sing like a canary.

6. None of the Trumps....

have even considered that they're subject to the same laws as everyone else. The wealthy do not have to abide by silly laws they don't agree with. They buy brigades of Attorneys to tie things up in court so there's never even a hint of impropriety. Laws are for little people who can't afford brigades of Attorneys. Simple as that. That may be subject to change very soon, however!

7. Jacques Anatole Francois Thibault

"The law, in its majestic equality, forbids the rich as well as the poor to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets and to steal bread.
