House GOP Wants To Fund Lapsed CHIP With Cuts To Medicare And Public Health

Late Monday night, House Republicans unveiled a plan for reauthorizing the Childrens Health Insurance Program (CHIP), which Congress allowed to lapse this past weekend.
Like its Senate counterpart, the bill lays out five years of CHIP funding, but reduces the amount of federal money going to help states cover low-income children and pregnant women after two years. Unlike the Senate bill, the entire package is funded by cuts to Medicare and the Affordable Care Acts prevention and public health fund.
The Democrats on the Energy and Commerce Committee, which marks up the bill on Wednesday, were less than thrilled with the plan.
The legislation offered last night by Chairman [Greg] Walden is not a bipartisan agreement, a Democratic aide for the committee said. We should not be looking simply to make cuts in other health programs to reauthorize this critical legislation.
The draft bill, posted around 9 p.m. Monday, makes the following cuts and restrictions in order to fund the program:

Instead of taking the money from let's say defense, they want to pit the older generation against the younger generation, what kind of twisted logic, do these assholes think of when they sit at home or in a office making $174,000 a year just to hurt one group against another group, is just unimaginable to understand....................

Or they just not trust their own plan.
