Dem lawmaker threatens to force Trump impeachment vote next week

Source: The Hill

Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) said Tuesday that he will move to force a House floor vote to impeach President Trump next week as he denounced Trump's attacks on NFL players protesting police brutality.

Green, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, stood on the GOP side of the House chamber to announce his plans to file a resolution that will automatically trigger a floor vote.

“I rise today as a proud American. A person who believes in his country, who salutes the flag and says the Pledge of Allegiance and sings the national anthem,” Green said, wearing an American flag-themed tie.

“I will stand here in the well of the Congress and I will call for the impeachment of the president of the United States of America.”

is all that makes an impression in ameriKKKa these day, especially with gop-repthugliKKKans. An impeachment resolution against a racist, sexist white supremacist says a lot about how many people in america feel about this clown potus....not a waste of energy at all...unless a person supports the idiot-potus...then they may see it as a waste....of energy. Fighting a RACIST potus, the leader of the most racist administration in modern american history is productive, hopefully...

I DO believe there will be articles of impeachment against 45/140 - I just don't believe it will happen anytime soon.

I would rather this happen when it is packed with a punch of charges by Mueller.

yeah it's all well and good, elected Ds and important Ds say protest, call in (calls are tallied) to congress & senators.....

We the people NEED MORE HELP from people Like elected Ds, DNC!,Sanders and people in the private sector like Hillary Clinton, Biden, the Obama's. They have to stand up and call out the RW fake news & dirty tricks by Republican party, call them out by name!! a LOT more forcefully.

When they go low (cheat, gerrymander, fake news pogroms)- Rs count on Ds to go WAY to soft & "common sense", reasonable.

Those who oppose the dignified, silent protest of athletes are mistaken if they think this is meant to disrespect the flag or the anthem -- it is to protest police brutality and other inequities afflicting minorities in society, particularly blacks.
If protests were never made, we'd never have desegregated schools, we'd still have Jim Crow, women would not have the vote and so on. Peaceful protests are part of what sets America apart from the rest of the world -- we are free to protest. We are free to speak. Our military fights to preserve and protect that for us. The athletes have watched the inequality and inequities of society befall their fellow man and have used a very public forum to make an attention-getting, respectful protest. Those who think they are wrong, need to re-think what they believe about this nation.
