GLENDALE, Ariz.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump, so the speculation was that he would not allow his players to kneel during the national anthem.

The Cowboys and their owner did kneel, though not during the anthem.

Following a weekend of kneeling and protesting across the NFL, the Cowboys and their owner displayed their own version of unity Monday night, kneeling on the field before rising as a group before the playing of the national anthem.

The Cowboys went into the locker room and returned to the field for the anthem, lining up between the sideline and the yard markers on the field.

Arm-in-arm, they dropped to a knee as a giant flag was carried onto the field, with Jones and his family in the middle near the 50-yard line.

Numerous boos rang out across University of Phoenix Stadium as the Cowboys kneeled and continued as the players rose, still arm-in-arm, and stepped back to the sideline as the flag was unfurled across the field. They remained connected as Jordin Sparks sang the national anthem...................................

1. They got boos for kneeling when the national anthem *wasn't* playing

Which shows it was never about patriotism and always about silencing black people.

4. If you don't understand why Kaepernick knelt down for police accountability in this country, this is

why.

5. It's not like they turned their backs to the flag, they knelt.

Since when is that disrespect? People can be so damn stupid.

6. Remarkable. Perfect experiment. They revealed the racism.

There was no anthem, they knelt before the flag showing solidarity and honor for the American way, and the booers were all doing it for the authoritarian racist.

7. My wife has NEVER had an interest in football what-so-ever.

I watch it all the time, but don't really have a favorite team.

Years ago, she read an article about Kaepernick in the L.A. Times; she told me how he'd overcome some tough obstacles to get himself into pro football. I'd always liked the 49'rs, and after hearing that, I watched him play with hopes of him being something great.

Early in 2007, she said something similar about a person of whom I knew nothing about: Barack Obama. She told me that's who she would like as President.

I'm not comparing the two, but I do think Kaepernick's passion is doing some good for the country.

8. Arizonans...racing to the bottom again...

Please know that all of us Arizonans are not racist. I have supported Kaepernick from the start.
