Trump election commission head lambasted for voter fraud claims

Fact-checking Trump's claims on voter fraud 04:06

Manchester, New Hampshire (CNN)Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach took President Donald Trump's voting commission to New Hampshire on Tuesday for a meeting that was designed to justify fears of rampant voter fraud that he -- and the President -- claimed was responsible for Hillary Clinton's narrow win over Trump there last year.

....................................

Gardner blasted Kobach for arriving with "preconceived, preordained ideas about what the facts are going to turn out to be."
"The problem that occurred because of what you wrote is that the question of whether our election as we have recorded it is real and valid. And it is real and valid," Gardner told Kobach as a small audience applauded Gardner's comment.

He was referring to an op-ed that Kobach, the commission's vice chair, penned for Breitbart last week claiming he'd found "proof" that out-of-state voters had taken advantage of the state's same-day registration to cast illegal votes. Kobach claimed those voters handed Democrats a win in New Hampshire's hotly contested Senate race last year -- and may have tipped the state in Clinton's favor, too.
Kobach's "proof" was that 6,540 same-day registrants used out-of-state driver's licenses to prove their identity.

But Gardner pointed out that New Hampshire law allows another category -- those domiciled in the state -- to legally vote. That category could include college students, active-duty military stationed in New Hampshire and more. He pointed to a state Supreme Court decision that found those people could use out-of-state driver's license to prove their identity, as long as they meet other registration requirements.

3. Push for paper ballots and fight suppression everywhere!

The demographics are against TPTB retaining control over our politicians as their "programmed" base dies out. They are getting increasingly desperate and thus resorting to voter suppression, more blatant propaganda, and hacking. It will get worse before it gets better, we just need to fight every move with mass response!

6. I believe Gardner is the longest serving SoS in the country. He

is highly respected here. I am a Selectman in a small town in NH and by virtue of that, a supervisor of elections. The Selectmen are required to be present at the polls during the entire time they are open and we must
certify the ballots before they are sent by police escort up to Concord. All of the people working at the polls are volunteers who have been trained to do this work. New registrations are handled very carefully. At every election that I have been at we get an unannounced visit by an Assistant AG who does a spot audit. This phony Trump commission is an insult to the dedicated election officials and volunteers who form the backbone of our democracy.

Election Integrity Commission members accuse New Hampshire voters of fraud

....
Kobach apparently made no attempt to contact voters who’d cast ballots but held out-of-state IDs. Thursday night, The Washington Post asked voters who’d done so to tell their stories; three did so within 60 minutes — college students, who were living in New Hampshire but did not change their licenses.
....

It’s possible that thousands of other New Hampshire college students voted the same way; the ability of temporary residents to swing close elections has been controversial in the state for years, as Democrats go through the same biennial battle to drive up turnout on campuses.

“Apparently, Kobach is saying that voting should be limited to people who drive cars,” said David Becker, director of the Center for Election Innovation. “He’s basically saying Bill Gardner, New Hampshire’s secretary of state — his colleague — is incompetent. And he’s doing it without a basis.”
....

But Kobach was only the most prominent commission member mangling the data. J. Christian Adams, a commission member who has sometimes accused voters of fraud based on badly flawed data, wrote Thursday that the 5,000-plus voters who had voted in 2016 but had not switched their IDs could “no longer be found in New Hampshire.”

That was false: Even the chair of Dartmouth’s College Democrats, Jennifer West, said Thursday that she held an out-of-state ID while studying and organizing voters in New Hampshire.

Nonetheless, Kobach and the commission will arrive in New Hampshire next week — at Patrick Derenze’s old campus, St. Anselm College — to discuss, among other things, “election integrity issues affecting public confidence.”

8. More Lies from Trump Voter Suppression Commission

Republicans will continue to attempt to propagate the myth of ‘voter fraud’ and unlawfully suppress the votes of those perceived to support Democratic candidates.
